Under normal circumstances I make plans for my trips, but this time I opted to just go with it. Unfortunately we did not get an early start and left after work and dropping kiddos off with grandparents. I left my car @ my best buddies house and we hit the dusty trail in the Cooper. Just outside of Tuscaloosa it came a mini monsoon so the trail wasn't so dusty from there on. We stopped in Meridian to grab a bite of supper, the summer lightning was putting on quite a show. Awake at 5 am and started preparing for departure. Made some scrambled eggs and Speck showed up around 5:45, Erin and Jay called shortly after. By 6:30 everyone was present and we finished loading the car, pulling out at 6:35 am. We knocked off about 100 miles before stopping for gas ~$3.04/gal, then on to Tennessee and Alabama. We stopped at the Huntsville welcome center and saw the rocket. Erin and Pam slept from about 11 – 12:30 and Erin awoke ravenous. We stopped at a Sub...

We decided to take the scenic route out of Massahusetts, which was great and awful. It was a nice setting for the kids first journal entries. Arrianna wrote about the Boy's incessant talking and suggested leaving him on the side of the road with a sign, "Free Kid: Beware". We drove past some beautiful swamps, rivers, and little villages. Joab liked pointing out "dilapidated" houses and barns along th...
