I'm leaving about an hour late and still have to stop and get ice and make sure my tires are inflated. Well, it's time! My first stop of the day is a rest area outside Peoria. It looks like I will be running into rain soon and probably on into Iowa. It took awhile taking Indiana 32 to I-74, but since it has been smooth sailing. I have to stop for gas soon. 188.0 miles down. The rest area tells me I am in the Mackinaw Dells. It is a rolling landscape -- but I can't take a picture because, well, I am at a rest stop! After we got checked in to the motel, me and my granddaughter made our way to Jumpin' Joes Family Fun Center. She really had a great time, and enjoyed herself tremendously. I thought the place was rather ran down. It was dark inside, more like a night club lighting than a "family fun center." The staff was not very attentive, and when asked to help, seemed put out. 8/8/08 - Okay, I have our little vacation all planned out, and it looks like there is plenty to do and see in Joplin! My hubby hates it when I plan. He would rather just go and see where we land. But now that we have our four-year old granddaughter with us, it's better to have a plan of action. Children just do better when there is some sort of schedule. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this little four day vacation. It's nothing too elaborate, too expensive, too extended, or too exhausting. It will be just a nice little "family" vacation.
