After driving many hours from Orlando, Florida, a night stay in Illinois and a long drive through Kansas (we were amused by the fake palm trees at a gas station)..... we arrived in Denver, CO late in the night. It's interesting approaching Denver from the east at night. One moment you are driving in pitch black, the next the you see this bright spot of hope and a hotel room! Early the next morning we headed through the east entrance of the Rocky Mountain National Park. We had traveled here the year before, entering through the west entrance. Tom and Nella came from Toronto to visit Tom's brother, Jasper, in Palo Alto. We spent four days around Palo Alto, on the Coast, in San Fran, and in Napa. Leave home from Seattle at 5am, drove 13 hrs non stop. When we got into the northern tip of California, hot waves hit us right away. Check at the outside temp on the Dashboard, it's at 102F. The hotel is right in the middle of town with restaurants and shopping all around. Intercontinental SF is very nicely fashionably decorated. We just went around the block to have a quick Japanese dinner. Then we met with so...
