A factoid about Quantas (besides the fact that per Rainman, it's the world's safest airline) is this: When Cyclone Tracy devastated the town of Darwin at Christmas 1974, Qantas established a world record for the most people ever embarked on a single aircraft when they evacuated 673 people on a single Boeing 747 flight. Friday, 8/1 - Well, after many months of planning, the day has finally arrived! I can't believe that we're actually driving across the US! It's something I've always wanted to do. Our drive will take us from Connecticut to California and back, going through New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, California, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri, then back through IL, IN, OH, PA, and NY and back home to CT. North California Trip June 2009
Leave home from Seattle at 5am, drove 13 hrs non stop. When we got into the northern tip of California, hot waves hit us right away. Check at the outside temp on the Dashboard, it's at 102F. Driving into San Francisco downtown to our hotel, we saw the miles miles long traffic on the opposite side, we feel sorry for those who work in SF. We arrive at the hotel around 6:30pm.
