Friday, 8/1 - Well, after many months of planning, the day has finally arrived! We left the house at exactly 4:44pm and got on the road. We left Connecticut on I-84 West until we hit Scranton, PA about 3 hours later. We found an old fashioned diner off the highway and grabbed a bite. Chick's Diner was packed, it smelled of smoke (it's been a while since I've eaten in a place where smoking was allowed), but we had an enjoyable meal. So, here we are, getting into the Aloha spirit...planning our Hawaiian Anniversary celebration...a visit to the 50th State seems to be touching more than one milestone...this will mark our 42nd State visited in the USA, taking us into the final stretch...we will also be ticking off the 15th "Highlight" of USA in the Lonely Planet Guidebook and....and we'd have seen all of USA's famous beaches with this trip....a lot to look forward to...Been trying to figure out which of the islands to visit...there's this great site I found...its a scorecard tailored to your individual preferences - ...
