...It was recommended that we take a dip in the hot tub or sit in the steam room before putting on our pajamas. This would raise our body temperature and the special lining of our sleeping bags would trap this heat inside. This sounded like a good idea but the only problem is that the hot tubs are located outdoors. Oh well, why worry about the cold? After all, we were there to spend a night in a hotel made of ice for goodness sake. Traci and I used the locker rooms in the Celsius Pavilion to change into our swimsuits. The front desk of the pavilion provided bathrobes, towels, and sandals ($3)....

It felt kinda weird experiencing Sunday morning for a second time. That’s what happens when you cross the international date line! Cleared customs at LAX and boarded the super shuttle. The condition of the 405 freeway was not as good as I expected. It was a grey overcast day. Checked into the Hotel Angeleno (formerly Holiday Inn Brentwood) and recuperated from the long flight. Walked to the nearest petrol station a half mile north. Woke up early to heavy rain outside my hotel room window. It does rain in southern California ! It stopped raining by 10:30 by which time the coach tour had started...
