This bench defines the undulating edge of the public park in the residential district designed by Gaudi. The backdrop is Barcelona. The serpintine back of the bench was designed around the curve of a workman's spine. It looks uncomfortable but is surprisingly well fitted to the human body. The park is an open space, similar to a "public green". It isn't green but covered in pebbles that act as a filter for water draining off the hillside as it travels through the floor of the "green" to columns underneath. So excited about returning to Europe! I was able to again cash in on miles and hotel points to ensure that this is a first-class trip on a budget! The cruise itself was already an unbelievable deal for 8 nights in a balcony stateroom on the beautiful Navigator of the Seas. AA miles gave us two business-first tickets on Iberia connecting through Madrid to Barcelona. The seats go all the way down for a super comfortable flight (oh yeah!).
