Boarding the ship in New York can be very hectic, be prepared to loose a few hours. It’s not worth complaining and harassing NCL staff since they have no control on anything. The port Authorities is driving the show. Luggages take a while to be delivered at your cabin, so it’s the time to familiarise with the boat. There are two ways to get to St. John from St. Thomas. You can take the ferry from Red Hook or the ferry from Charlotte Amalie. If the timing works out, the Charlotte Amalie ferry is the way to go! The Red Hook ferry runs every hour and costs $5.00 (baggage is extra). The problem with Red Hook, however, is that it takes about 40 minutes to an hour by taxi from the airport.
