The kids played the Playstation games, drank the milkshakes and ate the crisps and Louise and I got 90 minutes of peace and quiet as we waited for the flight spoilt only by Louise’s lack of progress with crossword. As we drove from the airport into the city we passed some of the wooden shanty towns of the Cape Flats an eye opener for Louise but familiar to me from my trips to Sao Paulo . January 2006: This is my first trip outside of the country and I get to share it with my husband (then fiance). We were fortunate to go with our college for 2 weeks! I was so excited that I couldnt even go to sleep that night. I guess it wasnt a problem though because we left for Chicago at 3AM and we just slept on the bus. It was so unreal! Im going to AFRICA!!!!!!!!! We arrived at the airport around 6 or 7AM and 18-20 hours later we were in Cape Town, South Africa! The plane ride was the worst part of the trip because I was so anxious to get there. At least I got to see the sun rise and set ...
