Haiku Plantation: Find real Aloha here
We will definitely return. We arrived to the owners out picking mangos and what a treat that was for us. Fresh mango bread was served for an afternoon treat. Coming from the city to be able to take a basket and go out into the gardens and gather was really something we will remember.
We loved the home with the Hawaiiana feel, and the owners showed us around the property and told us the history. We found the real Hawaii we were looking for, off the beaten path but close to everything.
We could walk up to the little town of Haiku and there are several really good restaurants there. Sandy recommended a few others down in Paia and gave us great information on local sights and which tours to take or things to do on our own. Saved us loads of money from buying snorkel trips.. we got our own equipment and took her advice for where the best spots were. We even swam in pools with waterfalls only 10 minutes from the house and there is an unbelievable bamboo forest nearby as well.
Haleakala was inspiring at sunrise, we had breakfast packed to go and ready for us at 4 am, and being in Haiku it was only about an hours drive, so much closer.
It was just the best stay on Maui ever, and we are glad we found Haiku Plantation Inn. Next trip we won't have to hunt because we know right where we will be, in the Aloha suite with that comfy king bed and the banana trees out our window. True Maui magic with rainbow chasing as Sandy calls it, she sent us out for an adventure upcountry one misty afternoon. The rainbows were vibrant and so close you think you can touch them. I have never seen anything like it in all my travels.
You can stay in a resort anywhere and get the same room and service, but this little B&B was sweet, the attention from the owners was from the heart and they showed us the real meaning of aloha. Mahalo for such a wonderful stay on Maui. We will be back for sure.
