Great experience

I stayed at the Hotel du Vin just 2 weeks after it had opened in September 2007 in Cambridge.
We stayed in one of the suites located within the maze of corridors and stairs. Everything was obviously new, the deluge shower was fantastic and the toiletries and drinks in the room really high quality. The room had lots of extras; hairdryer, iron, DVD player, magazines.
I think that the building was formerly student halls of residence but you wouldn't know it now. The decor is modern but they've kept some beautiful features, such as flagstone flooring. The library is a luxurious dark-panelled room, ideal for a cup of tea while reading the papers on a Sunday morning. The bar, is a warren of barrel-vaulted cellars, a fantastic candle-lit atmosphere! Perfect place for a Manhattan!
In addition, they have an outdoor heated smoking room where you can smoke one of the thousands of Havana cigars they sell In the Bar.
The hotel is not cheap (£175 per twin room) and you don't get many extras; breakfast is extra for example. Also, the hotel charges parking at £14 per day, but we didn't pay as it was free on the street on Saturday after 6pm and all day Sunday.
