Horizon South Beach Resort, Panama City Beach

I was very disappointed with horizon south. It was suppose to be family friendly. We had nothing but problems with the “owners” of the condo next door. They complained about the kids playing out side. They called security stating the kids were bothering them. When we arrived, in our motor home, we were unpacking. While doing so a friend of the owner of the condo next door came by and told us to move the motor home due to it blocking her friends condo (in which was empty at the time). That is understandable. I know we cant leave it this way but we have to unpack and she decided to call the police prior to talking to us. So we moved the motor home. When we arrive the temp inside the condo was 82. we turned the temp down to 70. the next day with the air running all the first day all that night. When we woke up covered in sweat that next morning the temp was 80. so we called the desk and the got someone over to look at it. He put some coolant in the system and said it should be better. The coldest we could get the condo was 78. that is the temp when we wake up. That is unacceptable! The stove in the kitchen was from the 80’s and only half worked. When it did the insulation was so shot it was almost unbearable to cook. The house was hot enough cause of the air now working properly the stove made it worse. The trash compactor did not work. The microwave door open button was broken. You had to jiggle it just right to get it to work. You cant walk on the floor upstairs with out a squeak in every step due to bad flooring. The dry wall on the ceiling is crumbling. The video card they give you to rent movies out of the machine does not work. We tried 6 times. Then the night before we check out we had the motor home parked in front of the condo trying to pack. Same story. The owners called the police. The owners of the condo wanted us to walk over 500 yards to try and pack all the stuff to go back home. Then we moved and they parked in front of our carport blocking our access. When they were asked to move they told us they had a lot of things to unpack and stayed there until they were done. The only good thing I have to say about the place is the staff has been understanding and friendly the whole time. Should have gone to the sandpiper!!! That is real family friendly. Horizon south should walk next door take some lesions.

We have stayed here for the past 2 years and we have loved it! We are going back this year again! The location is great, just a short walk to the beach. The only thing we found that we didn't like was the renters before us left their food in the fridge. It is a fairly cheap place to stay and you get your money's worth!
