Fantastic Upscale Resort!
My husband, 3 children and I stayed at Wailea Beach Villas from Feb.16 until Feb.23. We were in Maui for a wedding. We had a three bedroom condo in the penthouse buidling called Alohakai Suite number J205. The unit was very nice because it was brand new, clean and the maids came in daily to bring towels, change the sheets, staighten the kitchen. We spent most mornings hanging around the condo, so it was important that the condo unit be large. We had a great view of the ocean and saw many whales just sitting on our outdoor lanai. The location of this resort couldn't have been better, right on Wailea Beach which is a great beach for swimming & snorkeling and especially nice for our kids because the waves weren't real large. It is also within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops. We went to lunch at Longhis and Tommy Bahamas in the shopping center right next door. Both of the restaurants were very good for lunch, but we like the atomosphere at Tommy Bahamas better. Another nice restaurant we walked to for dinner is Matteos which served pizza, pasta and salad. We really enjoyed our stay in Maui and will definitely try to stay in the same resort and same condo unit again.
Also, make sure you drive down to Makena and visit Big Beach cause the sand is so beautiful and the water is very clear. If you like snorkeling, go a little further past Makena to Ahihi Cove. There is only parking on the street, so there is a short hike to the cove once you park. There is really not a beach to the cove and the entry is rocky (but easy) and the snorkeling is the best you'll see. The cove is a protected reserve. It felt like were were swimming in the middle of an aquarium!
