Atlantis Coral Towers, New Providence

Returned from Atlantis Coral Tower July 18, 2007. The hotel and location are gorgeous and the water park is fun for the kids. The beach is beautiful. That's all the positive I have to say about this place. Everywhere else you turn, everyone tries to rip you off. All foods were over priced and inferior to items 1/2 the price for comparable location in the San Diego. 15% "gratuity" are automatically added to everything, even for bad service or no service. For services, I do tip and tip well normally, but I disliked the mandatory gratuity simply because it was imposed on me. I bought Jamba Juice at the Marina (part of Atlantis) and lo and behold, there was a 15% "gratuity" added; all they did was took my order and gave me my order. Would I have to go in the back to make the juice myself to avoid the charge? I ordered and prepaid for conch friter to go with other dine in items at Anthony's Grill across the street. They didn't conch friter that day and so asked for a refund for the friter. My money was refunded, but without the "gratuity" they already charged for the conch friter they didn't have! The Jamba Juice and the Anthony's incidents exemplifies what these people are all about and ticked me off so much that I would not come back to this place. I didn't bother to argue in either case because that would make my vacation more unpleasant. Everyone have their automatic "gratuity" so no one has any incentive to provide any service for that gratuity. I'd be your lucky day if they'd smile while talking to you. The staff at Atlantis is not friendly and some are even rude. The towel girl at the pool acted as though you are asking her for a favor by requesting the towels which are part of your rights for staying at the Atlantis.
