Disappointment at first sight!
Just came back from staying at the new Solage Calistoga. Thank goodness we were only there for one night because we seriously couldn't wait to get out of there! First of all, minus the phone problems, we second everything from the previous review. It dawned on me when we arrived why there were so few photos on their website, it's because there is nothing else to show instead of the rooms. We were immediately put off. There was absolutely no charm, and the architecture was very unappealing. I took a bunch of photos of the grounds, so please see for yourselves. I don't think Solage is ready for opening and charging guests full price for a knowingly subpar experience is just wrong! A few days before our visit, one of their staff called us and told us that he would be responsible for taking care of our needs during our stay (very impressive, we thought at the time), but after that phone call, we would never hear from him again. When we realize that we were assigned a room in the development zone, we requested to be moved to the section near the pool because it looked more finished. One person at the front desk supposedly transfer our reservation, but while we were waiting for the room to be finished up, some manager came and told us that it was not available after all! The staff was indeed very green and seemed out of sync and confused all the time. The main reason why they give you bicycles is to get you from your room to the pool or restaurant, because they seem so far away! We didn't try any of their spa treatments, but we were told that they are only available in-room, and we also saw guests having massages in a couple of massage chairs by the pool. So I am assuming that the spa is not ready either! Overall, it was the most disappointing and boring "resort" experience and we will NEVER return to Solage Calistoga!
