Unexpected Value
While at the VA, we stayed her for a week. We actually drove by several times as the hotel looked so nice we were certain that couldn't be where we were scheduled to stay!
Affordably priced, we didn't expect such a large pool along with a playground, basketball court, tennis court & courteous staff.
Within a 5 minute drive during traffic, we were easily able to commute to & from the VA. Downtown & all major stores just 10 minutes away. Make sure to get addresses for locations & ask at the office. We made the mistake of asking a cab driver & went everywhere in Indy but our intended location.
Security is lacking at this location. Rooms must be opened with electronic key, but other entries are open to public. As with most areas near downtown, this isn't in the most savory location. But we felt safe & appreciated the convenience of the location & room layout.
Water was extremely hard & loaded with chlorine. Don't wash your favorite shirt here as it may come home in 12 heavier pieces! And water is pretty gross for any drinking or cooking.
Kitchette was a nice bonus. They do provide you with basics - and I mean basics. We had to go buy a different can opener as one supplied was not usable. Ice trays were also broken beyond use & no ice machine could be located. Pots & pans had wear & tear. For future stays, we will bring staples such as can opener, bigger better coffee pot, pan for oven (all others are stove top), sharp knife such as steak or paring knife, pizza cutter and a big spoon.
U-Club was a nice & affordable bonus. However, nice only if your room isn't too near it as it can get loud.
We plan to return & stay here later this month & would recommend the same for others who seek a price conscious hotel that still offers many conveniences.
