Our fourth stay at the Prince.
By ,
We love staying at the Prince for many reasons. We always get a two bedroom, oceanfront, corner condo...the views are gorgeous..the condo is comfortable, spacious, and very, very clean..the kitchen is nicely appointed... the resturant is nice and the food is good....the beach bar is just great!! The staff has always been very nice and on top of things. We like that its in North Myrtle so its a more laid back area but still just a short drive to everything. We do prefer to go in the off season so the prices are fantastic..and the beach is not crowded at all...even in march we turned off the heat/ac and left the balcony doors open all the time. If you have kids you'll be happier in Tower 2, thats where the lazy river is as well as two pools...we stay in Tower 1.....the pool area there is very nice, but smaller and quieter...its also ocean front. On the downside...the elevators in Tower 1 are NOT air conditioned and if you stay in the summer its very uncomfortable riding up and down with alot of sweaty people.

OK place to stay, wouldn't call it a \"resort\"
By ,
Just returned from a family vacation. Several comments: 1. Elevators slow, hot and it need of some air freshener! 2. Appearance of room at first was it was very clean. I wash all dishes before we use them, found a bowl that I thought was dirty, looked like dried pudding. Did not ever come clean! The made bed and left fresh towels each day, don't think they swept! 3. Small pool area, lazy river just wide enough for a raft to get through. And only about 10 rafts to use! 4. I didn't like the location at all. Never stayed in North Myrtle before, and I do not see staying there again. While it has nothing to do with the Prince Resort, we found the location to be too remote! Had to drive everywhere, not even a gift shop within walking distance. 5. You have to pay to walk on the pier that is connected to the hotel.........really??? 6. We booked a 2 bedroom unit, friends booked a 3 bedroom. Beware! 2 bedrooms is really 1 bedroom and pull-out sofa in the living room. 3 bedroom is 2 rooms with a pull-out sofa, It was ok for us, young son slept on sofa bed. Overall, Prince Resort is nice, but I don't see me staying here in the future just based on the location of it. If you want a quiet, remote setting this is the place for you!

Will not return

The carpet was disgusting. If you walked on the carpet in your bare feet the bottoms of your feet were black. There is no parking for the ocean front part except across the street. The lazy river is also across the street. You have to get to it through the parking garage then get on an elevator to about the 9th floor. The bathrooms are huge but not handicap friendly by any means, as far as the bath tub is concerned. No hand rails anywhere and no sort of mats in the tub for traction. There are no outside facilities as far as restrooms. The wind makes a horrible howling sound underneath the door which is very disturbing to who may be sleeping in the front bedroom by the door. The place needs some serious updating. The staff was friendly that I spoke with but that is about the only thing good I can say for the place. I suggest you look elsewhere. Especially is you need handicap facility or even an senior citizen who has difficulties of about any sort.

By ,
Manager and front desk people are not very nice about anything. Don't ask them for anything as you will get the looks your mama used on you...and talk about rude WOW.....I think I was even paying for this......There are lots of other places on the beach Better and Nicer and cleaner...This place is very run down for its age.

Great Overall Resort - Would Visit Again!
By ,
The staff was friendly and very helpful. The condo was "exceptionally" decorated and clean (like new)! There were ample kitchen supplies. The KIng Bed was very comfortable. Our 9 year old grandson caught a 10# skate off the pier! Our grandchildren loved the lazy river. It was so relaxing sitting in the recliner in living room or laying in the bed looking out at the beach and ocean. Great view of marshes from hallway (water in every direction).

Don't Let the BED BUGS Bite!
By ,
After looking forward to a girls weekend for months,we finally checked in for SOS at the Prince. After getting settled for our first night,I woke in the middle of the night to find bed bugs all in my sheets ,on the wall, and me as well. After calling to the front desk to complain,I was asked to bring a few of the bugs down to the desk to "verify" what I was saying was true.We then had to pack all of our luggage back up at 3:30 in the morning,in the rain, and move to another room with no assistance to help us.After speaking with the manger the following morning ,and showing her my bites,we were informed that we would not be compensated for our weekedn trip because these things"happen" and our out of their hands.Needless to say we moved hotels that day and will NEVER be back.

Stay away or at least confirm your room first!
By ,
We actually stayed at the Wyndham Towers on the Grove where the Prince Resort owns a block of rooms. My wife made reservations two months prior to our stay because it is our anniversary "get-away" and we wanted the "perfect" room. She spoke to a very nice girl in reservations that recommended a ocean view room that would give us a wonderful view "even better than the ocean front" as long as we were above the 10th floor. My wife called 3 days before our scheduled arrival date to confirm the a 14th flr room and all was well. But when we showed up at the reservations desk, the room we were promised was not available and we were given a room on the 2nd floor on the backside of the hotel with a view of ocean boulevard instead of the ocean! This room is between the "fire pump room" which hums 24 hours a day and the "trash chute" room. We literally heard trash coming down the chute from the upper floors at all hours of the day & night as well! I assure you that I am not exagerrating one tiny bit - this has to be the worst location in the entire hotel. We were awakened on our second morning by a delivery truck just below our room which took about 10 minutes to actually back into the garage below us. We are currently listening to traffic instead of the ocean. The general manager - Stephanie - had a nasty attitude from the start and when we threatened to cancel the reservation her response was "that's fine"and she just looked at us. How do these people become managers with that attitude?! Unfortunately, we had no other place to go so we're stuck with the 2nd floor room. The Prince Resort is managed by the Avista Resort & the only satisfaction we received was after speaking to a reservations manager at the Avista & we were given a $63 refund for a 3 night stay. Needless to say, this didn't replace our botched anniversary getaway. Stephanie had offered to "see what she could" do as far as compensation for the screw-up, but she never returned our phone calls after we checked into the room, which just added to our frustration. It took me over an hour on the phone just to track down who was ultimately responsible for issues at the Prince - not exactly what you want to have to do on your vacation. My advice is to find another resort to stay if you want a professional management staff in case your reservation doesn't go as planned.

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR $$$$
By ,
My wife and kids booked this place for 2 nights as a quick get-away in the great Myrtle Beach area. Unfortunately Hurrican Irene was bearing down on the Carolina's - so we looked to cancel our reservations for the nights of 08/24 and 08/25. Their "policy" is to hold one night reservation upon cancellation with such short notice! OR - we could just come down and risk our lives in a CAT 3 hurricane. Only way refund is made is if they evacuate the area. I guess the almighty $$$$ is greater than the safety of their guests. So we ate $150 for nothing. Thanks for such great customer service. We would have gladly taken a refund of the charge and rescheduled our trip after Irene was gone and when it fit our crazy 4-kid schedule. To bad - they lost our business forever! What a shame...

First and last time
By ,
This was a destination wedding/honeymoon/family vacation trip. We rented 2 separate rooms since there were so many of us. The front desk asked my mom if she wanted extra linens for either room. My mom told her yes since my sister has 2 small children. They stayed in a 1 bedroom. The rest of us stayed in a 2 bedroom with 4 so called "double beds" and a queen sleeper sofa. My parents shared one bedroom and my grandmother and I shared the other. My fiancee, now husband, slept on the queen sleeper sofa which he said was very uncomfortable. The "double bed" couldn't have been true because I'm 5'9" and my feet hung off the bed. If you wanted Maid Service there was a door hanger to hang on the outside of the door. I'm not sure what their version of maid service was but let me tell you what it means....NO vaccumming, NO sweeping...we needed more bath linens and we never received them. Yes, they were on the floor. One morning we were in the room when they came by. She asked if we needed more linens and we told her yes. I had to pick up the used towels and bring them to her. In return, she gave us 9 towels and 2 washclothes. What I gave her was 3 washclothes, 4 towels and a bath rug. She told us she didn't have anymore washclothes. We bathed using handtowels which seemed to be in endless supply. The handle on the kitchen cabinet came off. There was a huge crack in the kitchen countertop. When it came to cooking in the room, we had to wash everything we used the first time. One frying pan had black crud in it, which when, after washed it and heated oil in it smelled like fish. We had to wash sand out of drinking glasses. The refrigerator was nasty. The drawers for veggies and fruit had "leftovers" in them. Maid service only made up the beds 1 day out of the 8 we were there. She did however put 3 dishes in the dishwasher and turn it on. The mattresses were worn out and wouldn't stay on the foundation. The linens wouldn't stay on the beds. There was no discount at the pier and the pier staff seemed to have no patience with anyone. If there was a heated pool, it wasn't at this place. My sister and her children went to both pools, neither heated. Only thing heated was hot tubs and there were only 2 of those. Parking was terrible. You had to park on the street side which consisted of bottom 2 floors for pier, next 2 floors for restaurant, remainder of floors were for guests. After a bad storm midweek, the middle elevator oceanfront made this horrible noise each time it went by each floor. That was fixed by end of week. Our departure was terrible as well. The elevators were slow. We waited so long that we decided to go up to go down. I ended up taking the stairs down to the ground floor when we were leaving. There were no carts to assist in loading and unloading cars. There are only about a dozen spaces to park when you arrive to check in which is less than efficient when you have 18 floors in just one tower. We didn't let it ruin our vacation/honeymoon/wedding but will not be back. Looks better on the website than in person. Also, when making reservations, if you can avoid it, avoid the pay in advance option. Make your reservations via phone, not online.

Where do they find these people?
By ,
Obviously, the Prince Resort is trying to save money because their housekeeping staff is unprofessional. When I called the front desk for a vacuum cleaner, because the rug had crumbs on it, I was shaking in my boots when this scary looking guy bangs on my door. He was dressed in a black sweatshirt and baggy pants. I didn't know if I was going to get robbed or serviced. He was pulling up his pants as he greets me and mumbled something, I couldn't tell you what he said. So much for a professional establishment.
