Not as good as advertised....
Overall, we were very diappointed with this property. Despite being opened in 2006, the hotel was fairly run down (several missing tiles in the pool, broken railings in the elevator, torn up volleyball net over the pool, etc.). This may seem rather petty, but it is this lack of upkeep that affected our overall impression of the property.
Additionally, they have a ridiculous reservation system to use four of the restaraunts. You must reserve a table the day before between 5-6 pm (so your first night you must eat in the buffet). These reservations fill up, so you may wait in line and then get stuck eating in the buffet anyway. This seemed like a silly and unnecessary step. The food was average at best and the hotel appeared to be significantly understaffed. Food was constantly running out because of what appeared to be a shortage of cooks and the service areas were rarely cleaned/straightened up, making the whole dining experience rather poor. The lone exception was breakfast, which they seemed to manage effectively everyday.
Overall, this resort failed to meet our expectations. We have stayed at several all-inclusives in Playa del Carmen (Mexico) and found those much better run with a much more helpful staff and much better maintanance.
Outside of the resort, we found Jamaica to be disappointing as well. While people were extremely friendly, they seemed to lack the same service mentality of other Carribean countries. The service people were not particularly focused on customer service, continually hustled you for tips, and in general seemed more concerned with enjoying life than helping customers.
My wife and I travel frequently and rarely ever have a complaint. However, we both found Jamaica very disappointing and probably will not return, especially not to this property.
