Located near beaches, shopping and restaurants, Bend in the Road Guest House is a comfortable, pet friendly bed and breakfast featuring two lovely guest accommodations and a pool. A pottery studio and pottery classes are available for those interested.
We loved everything about Bend in the Road! Carolyn is a wonderful innkeeper, who took our every need into consideration. She was very patient with our requests (esp regarding a special sleeping space for our daughter,) and provided a 10-star experience. It goes without saying that our dog was treated like the royal princess that she is!
The nicest thing I can ever say about someone is that they made me feel so "at home" and this was the best part of our experience. We felt as if we belonged there, we were made to feel so welcome, and will always have magical memories of our stay at bend in the Road. The other reviews have said it all! Go there, you will have a special experience. We hope to return soon and spend a little more time at the Pottery Studio in which Carolyn creates her special work. Her other artistic endeavors include wonderful ornaments and I highly recommend these to anyone who wants to collect or purchase - next time, I will be bring several of these home with me. Thank you Carolyn!
Wonderfully comfortable, great decor, and so much of it has been created by family. Great pottery studio, great grounds. Took 2 dogs with us who have never had such a luxurious raod trip before. Sunsets on the beach, fire in the fire place, popovers for breakfast - 4 adults and 2 children and 2 dogs all slept well - we will go back. We are originally Shelter Island folk, so we need our L.I. fix at least once a year and this was the best. Thank you. Carolyn
Bend in the Road Guest house was just perfect! We instantly fell in love with the B&B when we found out we were able to bring our 2 dogs with us! This place is by far the most reasonably priced place to stay at in the Hamptons, and the nicest. During our stay we had access to a beautiful pool, and lots of lush green land that was fenced in and very private. This was amazing for our dogs. They had a blast running around all day, plus they even could take a dip in the pool to cool off when they wanted! The owner, Carolynn, greeted us upon arrival and was such a wonderful host. She makes the most delicious popovers every morning, and is dedicated to making your stay as enjoyable as possible. The location is wonderful, very easy to find, and close to many beaches! The room was beautiful and clean. We had our own private bathroom, mini fridge, microwave, and coffee machine. It was such a wonderful, and relaxing stay at Bend in the Road. We will definitely be back again soon!
I loved staying at the Bend in the Inn Guest House. It felt as if it were my very own home, because Carolyn Bistrian welcomed me with open arms. Although we had never met before, we soon became good friends. The house is wonderful, large, comfortable. Carolyn helped me with everything I needed--from shopping in town, to getting directions to the beach, to inviting me for dinner. The yard is huge and shaded with trees, and the pool is kept clean with constantly circulating water. The room was large with a chair and a sofa, and even a walk in closet. There was a refrigerator and a micro wave and a coffee maker. There's also an extra living room just for guests.
This charming B&B offers large, secure grounds for dogs to run, a nice swimming pool for all, and a congenial host whose love of dogs is manifest. The facilities and amenities were all we needed to make our stay in the Hamptons memorable.
As English travellers we have stayed in many places across America over the years and have never before met with such friendly warmth and hospitality. Carolyn was the perfect hostess, always on hand, but never intrusive. Her home is just magical - beautifully furnished, with lots of artistic touches, set in fabulous surroundings, and spotlessly clean.
Her dogs were as welcoming as she, though always beautifully behaved. Many thanks for a memorable stay - I highly recommend the Bend in the Road.
Stayed here with my son's dogs...really nice place

My son's two dogs made impossible for him to stay at our house (cats!) about 15 miles away. As it turned out I stayed at the Bend In The Road more than my son and his wife. This is a small place (only two suites with a shared living room) in a separate wing of a single-level farmhouse.
The owner is an artist, and the basement is used tor pottery and the like. There is a full two acres of garden that's fully fenced in,that is made available for guests and their pets. And that is at the edge of a 20 acre field/farm for walking the dogs).
The bed was a very comfy king, and the room had a small TV and DVD player. And yes there's satellite cable and WiFi. The room had a separate bath with tub and shower separated by a short private hallway.
I liked that the living room had a fireplace which was lit when we all arrived. I don't eat breakfast, but I can tell you the baking smelled great.
Sadly, it was too cold to use the pool which is quite large and was covered for the winter.
. The house is filled will collectibles and knickknacks to give a family feel. And books, lots of books.
There are big oaks on the property and it is very secluded although only one block from the main drag (Rt 27). At night you can hear the ocean. It is less than a mile walk to the center of East Hampton, and there are several carry-out places even closer in the other direction. But East Hampton has several really great restaurants with PrixFixe specials (except in high season). The beach is about 1.5 miles, and is gorgeous.
If you want to talk about dogs, there's plenty of that available too. The landlady trained dogs for various charities, and can offer insight when asked.
A really pleasant couple of days.
Try 1770 house restaurant, also DellaFemina, Maidstone, ENE and Harvest in Montauk, and American Hotel in Sag Harbor, to name but a few. Dining is really fine around here.
We have stayed at Bend In The Road several times and Carolyn and her four wonderful rescued dogs welcomed us with open arms and paws !! Did we mention that we have stayed with our NINE dogs ?! Carolyn trusted that we would use good judgment and be courteous guests.
We highly recommend Bend In The Road to anyone with or without pets !!

My wife and I and our mixed lab, Akee, recently spent a week at the wonderful (full of wonder) Bend In the Road Guest House. The owner/hostess, Carolyn, is an accomplished artist and a fantastic baker. Each morning the charming house fills with the scent of baking popovers that taste even better than they smell. Our room was lovely, bright, clean, and the bed was the most comfortable we’ve ever slept on. I spent the one afternoon when it rained stretched out on the window seat reading and pausing often to look out into the lovely secret garden and beautiful pool. The house is filled with eclectic works of art. There’s something original and interesting to see everywhere you look. It is truly like no other B. and B. we’ve been in. Carolyn is a most gracious hostess. She’s a wonderful conversationalist with interesting stories to tell, but also senses when you wish to be alone. She provides a pass to the town beaches. She will be glad to give you a tour of her studio and to provide you with directions to the best shops and restaurants and clubs in the Hamptons. Then there are the dogs. She has five of the most friendly and well behaved dogs I’ve ever seen. Our Akee was greeted with wagging tails and joyful barks. She was able to run on the spacious grounds and play with her new friends all day every day during our stay. Her time at the Bend in the Road Guest House was every bit as enjoyable as ours. Truly in Carolyn’s lovely guest house you are treated as a most welcome and honored guest. In addition, your dog will be treated to the love and dignity he/she deserves. We recommend the Bend in the Road Guest house highly. It was certainly the best bargain we've had this year. We've already made plans to come back in the fall.
If ever you were looking for a quiet and peaceful vacation, take time to check out Bend in the Road. It has a warm, quaint, and cozy feeling not duplicated in most B&Bs. I was greeted by the warmest hostess who showered with the greatest attention and left me when I needed my space.
I awoke the next morning to the nicest music and the smell of scones coming from the dining room. Having never tasted scones, I was delighted in the hostess explaining how to cook them. She then made the best french toast but it wasn't like anything I had ever eaten before.
She then told me about various local places to visit, like the closest beach access and the ever wonderful and astounding traveling sand dunes which are almost in her backyard.
After a very busy day, I returned to her home to have the most wonderful meal, this time tuna steaks and mussels. The best surf and turf which is my very redneck way of describing something far more delicious than regular steak and shrimp.
I felt at ease winding down the day listening to her tales of yesteryear(and yesterday!), never feeling like she was imposing on my time. At one point I watched her dancing with her dearly beloved husband and thought why couldn't I live like this?
The next day she showed us her pottery studio and she even let us play with her clay pots and she fired them for us. Wow, who knew we were going to be rewarded with such experiences?
I think anyone who comes here will be surprised at how much you get for your dollar. You're not just getting a place to lay your head at night. You're getting the experience of a lifetime.
This experience will ever be engraved on my mind and I will never forget her or my visit. I can't wait to return.
