\"Horrible hotel experience at the Ca'Sagredo Hotel!!!\"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/07
My fiance and I went to Europe and Venice was supposed to be the highlight of our trip, especially since that is where he proposed to me, so of course we wanted a great 5 star hotel. This hotel says many times over that it is a 5 star hotel, but there is no way possible Ca'Sagredo Hotel reaches that caliber. First off we both found the staff to be incredibly rude and if they weren't giving us a negative attitude they were being aloof to us and rarely ackowledged our existence when we walked into the hotel. They were no help with dinner reservations and if we asked a question they acted as if they were doing us a favor by listening. When we walked in the hotel itself was nice but then we got onto the TINY elevator to take us to the floor of our room and all we saw was gross brown dirty carpet. The hallway was disgusting! We had booked a junior suite, but when we arrived we were told that we were "upgraded" which was a complete lie. We were stuck literally into an attic room which seemed like a starter flat. It was narrow and cramped and although we had booked our room with the gaurantee that we would have a view of the canal, what we got was a tiny little window, that if you stuck your head out of it, you could see the canal. When we arrived we were really tired and just wanted to sleep, but the air conditioner would not turn off. We called down and it took them at least an hour to correct it, then to just have it go on again an hour later and not shut off until they had to send someone up to fix it.
Room service here was a total joke. There is a complimentary breakfast, but we prefer to eat in the room and do room service. However the people who do the morning service barely understand any English and all we were asking for was an omelette with no meat. They were rude, ignorant, and just plain annoying. They got our breakfast wrong both times and had to go back to correct it. They also either forgot water or brought too many bottles. Since we were in the tiny attic room, the ceiling was slanted making no room possible in the shower and the drain in the sink would keep getting backed up too. And if the Ca'Sagredo hotel really were a 5 star hotel they would carry items such as converters, however it was a hassle for me to even get that from them! And we also thought along with everything else that they wanted us to drop our key off every time we left so the maids could get in was odd. The maids do have keys to the rooms and if they were worried about privacy someone would hang the do not disturb sign on the door. Why would I want to go to the front desk every morning to drop my key off and have to deal with that rudestaff? This hotel is worth only about $250 a night so do not waste your money at the Ca'Sagredo!!!! There are much better ways to experience Venice Italy! I had gone off the reviews of this site and figured since the Ca'Sagredo hotel was relatively new and had a few good reviews that it would be perfect. I was wrong! This was the worst hotel of the whole trip and I am so sad that it had to happen on the part that we got engaged on! DO NOT GO THERE!!
