Insincere, Irresponsible and Unprofessional

Hotel Seagull didn't even bother to offer me their hospitality. Earlier in September 2011, I have made reservations for 5 deluxe double sea-view rooms in this hotel for the period Dec23rd-Dec 26th and received confirmed reservations. I called them on 25th October requesting for extra rooms . When I called, they had the nerve to tell me that "Our computer crashed and we have lost all information, hence all reservation has gotten erased. Now we have already taken new bookings and at time time a company has reserved the entire hotel". When I asked what happens to my booking now as I know I won't find rooms in other preferred hotels at this time as Dec 23rd is a rush time, Seagull answered "we don't know". No alternatives, no apoloigies, no compensations offered whatsoever.
Our group comprises guests coming from abroad and other parts of the country only for the trip as this is was a big family meet and all other travels related to the has been finalised. I strongly feel that they are lying about their computer crashing as i have found out that a large pharmaceutical company has reserved all the big hotels in Cox's bazar during that time so Seagull didn't want to miss this opportunity of going fully reserved by a single organisation.
Seagull's utter UNPROFESSIONAL ISM, IRRESPONSIBILITY and INSINCERITY has again failed me to have any trust, customer satisfaction or honesty from any service provider in Bangladesh, esp. tourism. With this attitude, I'm afraid that only by building hotels and not providing the soft services, we cannot expect the tourism industry to grow much when this is the service quality of the so-called "BEST" hotel in Cox's Bazar. I travel the world from my work and even famous 5-star, 4-star hotels have put me up at higher graded rooms at the promised lower rate rooms that I had reservations as they messed up the booking. I know expecting that kind of service is still a dream in Bangladesh, they could at least inform us that they are cancelling our booking, so we have to make other arrangements. At this point, I'm outraged. Found this place to vent out. Funny there isn't any place to complain even.
I suggest make sure you carry your camping gears with you if you have reservation at Seagull.
