Paris Guesthouse, Hong Kong

This is a good place to stay if you want to SPOIL your stay in Hongkong. We pre-booked our accommodations well in advance so that we will not be wasting our time trying tro look for good enough place to stay. Do not be fooled by the photos you see in the net! The photo is nice but wait until you see the actual rooms! We arrived at this so called "guesthouse" and to our dismay this moron handling the reservations got everything mixed up. Instead of booking 3 rooms for 7 people, he booked 1 room for 3 people, and that is just for starters. Just to accommodate us since we have already paid in advance, they led us to a different guesthouse also located in the same building. We actually thought that everything will turn out fine but again, on our second night after we got back from our HK tour for the day, upon opening our room, there was somebody else sleeping in our room! I thoughy that I accidentally opened the wrong door when one of their staff approached us and told us that they transferred us to another room in a different floor! Yup, they transferred us, took all our belongings, stuffed them inside whoevers bags they can find and placed our luggages in the other rooms! Man I was raging mad! Our personal stuff being handled by someone else!!! What's worse is when we complained, we were told that they even did us a favor bacause they transferred us to rooms within the same floor. By the way, we were booked in separate floors the first night. And they had the nerve to tell us they were doing us a favor by transferring us into 1 floor. I keep on wondering how these kinds of "guesthouses" can continue to operate. I will not be surprised if they only get first time guests because after your first time in this kind of place I think you'd rather pay extra and find a more decent place to stay in. By the way, I almost forgot to mention the elevators, their lifts. They only have 2, and each can only take 6 to 7 people. And if you're "lucky", you'll spend the next half hour waiting for the next trip, and if you are really lucky, you'll get to ride the lift with construction materials, garbage and all sorts of stuff with you! So please for your sake, if you would like to enjoy your HK trip, look for another place to stay - but if you do decide to try this place ... DON'T SAY I DID NOT WARN YOU!!!!

This is my first time in hongkong and check in at PARIS GUESS HOUSE. the building is old but no problem , they are under constraction and making new more rooms, very affortable price, clean and stuff are nice and friendly .if you love to drink coffee it's free of charge ,mineral water, internet is free also , and if you will stay only about 1-3 days the stuff can also do the laundry... so what more to ask?and if you want to go to china they also do the visa no commision charge just visa fees. so why look for more guess house or check in at expensive hotel if we have PARIS GUESS HOUSE in HONGKONG :)

We liked the location, the cleanliness and the friendly people. The staff help us with everything! and they were very kind and polite! Also we made a mistake in the date reservation and they resolved that too!! Hope to come back!

I cannot believe these positive reviews. The paris guesthouse is located in the miserable Chung King mansions. When I asked questions, the staff got nasty. There are lots of Indians with strong body odor along with hookers that are buzzing around this awful beehive. I arrived late at night and was petrified at the sight of this place. It seems all of the positive reviews must have been put up by the owners of the place.... I just don't get it! Beware!

I was a bit confused looking for a location with such elegant name, Paris Guesthouse. Well, I am scocked, after all that it was just a name. I think that is why they did not advertise their exact location because it is situated inside the notorious Chungking Mansion, which adds up the beating of my heart. I have heard so many negative things about this place, Chunking Mansion. In fairness to Paris Guesthouse, however, it is very different: very clean and the lodge operators seem to be doing their job well. The rooms are very small, about 4 sq. meters only with bathroom included. It has wireless internet access and cable TV with few channels to choose from, where more than 50% of the channels are Indian or Pakistan or Bangladesh (I guess). But they have BBC, which I think is a compliment, sonsidering the place is owned and I presume, operated by Indians. For its cleanliness I will give it 3 stars out of seven. For space, I will give it 2 stars. For safety, I will give 3 stars.

This place is centrally located with good access to public transport. The staff is very helpfull and you can ask them anything you need. If you do not have a Visum for China and you want to pop over for a visit they might even get you one of those. The rooms are small but comfortable and reasonably prices. The Paris Guesthouse itself is very clean and all rooms are equiped with television and free wifi Internet access. There are also several public computers with Internet access. Also available are free drinking water and fridges. All in all a very good accomadation for its price if you are planning to go on a budget.
