Clarita's Beach Hotel, JACó

Claritas is the coolest beech bar and hotel in Jaco,and I'm not just talking about the cool breeze off of the pacific. The food and drink are great and much cheaper than most places in the states. The tender darlings that staff this place are a real treat and are very friendly. The service is very prompt. They have seven large screen tv s on the walls so you can watch your favorite sports game or you can play pool or darts too. Live bands on the weekends are common and the bartenders spin cd's the rest of the time. You can rent boogie boards for cheap and have fun in the surf all day. Located behind the beech bar is a cute 25 room hotel which is clean and comfortable. Thee maids clean and adorn your room with fresh cut flowers daily. All the amenities seem to be here and the room safe is a big plus. The hotel and bar have security guards and staff around all day and night for your safety, but they won't mind if you want to take a moonlit dip in Claritas pool. If you like to surf don't forget your board because the waves out front are great. All things considered this was a great stay! And fun too. Brian, Tacoma

This was my second stay at Clarita's and second visit to Jaco. Once again the stay was beyond my expectations and the atmosphere, beautiful and friendly staff, excellent security and service and stunning location near the northernmost least crowded part of the beach were the best. The new waterfall feature pool is a great addition. The afternoon surf is great and the water was clean. I had a great time. If you are looking to experience the friendly true nature of Ticos and a great mix of clientele, this is a great place. The staff as beautiful as they are friendly and the security made listening to the waves at night on the beach chairs or nearby walks on the beach at night feel safe. Watch out for the Guaro and OJ drinks though. They have been known to put you to sleep on the beach. Clarita's is a beach hotel and not the Best Western or a 6 star resort so if you are looking for that, it is probably not for you. but if you are looking for great food and drinks fun clientele and staff, awesome beachfront view and local Tico vacation experience, you have found your place. The rooms were always clean and well kept, and the in room mini fridge was great, but no shampoo or blow dryers so bring your own if required. The vibe and music and clientele and staff are great there. It lives up to its motto of getting Waco in Jaco, whether that means checking out on the beach or having a great home base for turning it up for some adventure, fun and excitement. I will definitely be back.

Dec 17, 2008 Just got back from a week long stay in Jaco at Clarita's and can't wait to go back! We booked our reservations from Clarita's website very last minute (2 or 3 days before arrival) and within a few hours I received a response back confirming our reservations. Once we arrived we knew we made the right choice in hotels, upon check-in we each received a free beer. And the staff was very friendly from the get-go. The rooms are small but very clean and the water in the shower was always hot (We had 3 people taking showers one after another) Clarita's is one of very few beachfront hotels in Jaco and it's so nice to just get up leave the room, hit the hotel restaurant/bar grab an ice cold (and cheap) beer and hit the beach. We had such an awesome time at Clarita's we lost track of time. We thought we had another couple days on our date of checkout, so we stayed an extra night. Can you find a cheaper hotel in Jaco? Probably. But right on the ocean, with security at night, very clean rooms, with an awesome restaurant and even better staff? I doubt it. Have fun at Clarita's! Pura Vida...

Wow! Fun central and on the beach in Jaco, Clarita's is by far the best beach bar in town and rite on the sand. This open air jewel has a laid back atmosphere with a sports bar theme. The walls are adorned with LCD TV's and lots of them along with signs of pure humor and whit.Clarita's is kept cool by wonderful ocean breezes and is great for day time relaxation and enjoying the great ocean views and the surfing is great rite out front.. In the late afternoon its happy hour and horse shoes and beautiful sunsets.The food and drinks are good and at a fair price for a tourist town. Clarita's hires the sweetest, cutest and well trained girls to staff the restaurant and bar. The service is great and with their behind the bar antics and playful demeanor will keep you in stitches. Live music is common on the weekends and English is spoken well here so its easy to make new friends here. It seems like there's always something fun going on here.Clarita's also has a 25+room hotel located behind the restaurant. The rooms are reasonably priced and are kept very clean.The house keeping staff are very friendly and prompt.The rooms seam to have all the amenities TV's,fridges,safes,hot water.a/c and security guards at night.This place is located on the northern end of the beach(the quiet end) but only a 10 minute walk to all the nightlife and shopping you'll need or a 2 minute cab ride (2 bucks).I've stayed at allot of other hotels but if you want to stay" fun "this is the place.The hole place rolls together well into a fun time......Rated pure fun. I recently visited Clarita’s 7/6-7/10 and I had a wonderful time. I would say that this property is well suited for adventurous couples, fishing parties, or bachelor parties that are just looking for a good base of operations while exploring the surrounding area. Clarita’s is not a destination by itself. There are no activities, water sports, pool, etc. What it is, is an extremely reasonable, clean, safe location on a beautiful stretch of beach in Jaco. The Bar itself is a great beach bar! If your idea of a good time is kicking back with drinks and a plate of killer chicken enchiladas right on the beach, this should be heaven for you. I went with a group of 10 people for a bachelor party and this property was perfect. Cabs are generally $2 anywhere in Jaco, so… You can grab a few drinks at Calitas and then head out for the night. Clarita’s closes at 9PM, so… any impression that Clarita’s bar is a wild and crazy place after dark should be squashed! This does not mean that the hotel is a quiet place after dark, there are people coming back from the bars throughout the night. This is just the nature of the beast. This is an adults only location and for people that have the mindset that they are going to Jaco to get Waco! If this is your goal, Clarita’s is your place. They Cater to this! Our rooms although basic, were completely cleaned every day. The maid service was impeccable. Security was tight and you feel very safe! Over all I have absolutely nothing bad to say, I would just warn against families or couples looking for a resort destination.

didn't stay there, but checked out the rooms. Clean and neat, right at the beach and restaurant is just in front of the hotel. Great food, fantastic music, really cold beer. The waitresses were great, very friendly. Would stay there the next time we go back to Jaco.

I loved the laid-back non fancy-ness of Claritas.Clean room daily,great food pleasent employees.The restaurant/bar/pool table and large T.V.s are open to the sand & surf.I lost my passport and the owner arranged transportation to San Jose & back to get a new one. I had a reaction to some new medication I brougt with me and again Clarita got me a cab and sent me to the clinic for attation. The clinic in jaco is very good.It is easy to walk to town from the hotel, so much to do, you`ll never get bored. I just can`t waite to get back !!!!! In fact, I loved it so much I bought some property there,and planning on retireing there. The only thing I would like to see changed is the restaurant/bar open later since I`m a night time person.

Fantastic for our purpose. If you like to sit in your room in a tropical paradise, order room service and watch Magnum P.I. on cable, this is not for you. Frig kept the beer cold, the ice frozen, A/C and fan kept us comfortable, plumbing and hot water worked, clean room and linens. WiFi from the attached bar and grill worked from our room and the deck in front of the room. Girls at the bar were great.

Claritas is the epitome of Costa Rica. Laid back, friendly,fun,and scenic. Great place to kick back and take it easy. Dave, leslie, and the ladies are very nice and very helpful to newcomers to CR. Rooms are clean, location is excellent and you are always welcomed with a smile.

Clarita's is a great place to stay. The rooms are spotless clean, it is located on the beach in a great location with beautiful sunsets. The Ticas that work the restaurant are tons of fun and as friendly and professional as you can get. The beer is ice cold and the food is good. It just doesn't get any better than this. John
