Run, don't walk, away from this hotel!! Really
By Brian Brian, 4/11/09
I stayed at this hotel recently and it was a horrendous experience. The rooms are run-down and have a damp musty smell. The worst problem however was the massive techno base pounding from the HUGE diso across the street. The "music" assault continued until 3am which gave me about 3hrs of sleep. Unless you plan to party at the disco until 3am and sleep until noon DON'T STAY HERE. Management could not care less, they said it was not their problem as the noise was comming from the disco. How about sound proofing the windows? At the very least they should be informing their guests upon check-in

Best Hotel in Udon
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/16/09
If you have to visit Udon Thani then this really is the best place to stay. The choice of hotels here is very limited and because the city has very few tourists, you would be stupid to expect the usual western standards. Book online in advance and for what you pay you honestly can't complain about the value. The rooms might be a bit dated but they are large and relatively comfortable. Breakfast is poor, with few western choices, but you can cross the road and eat at a cafe for such a small cost it really doesn't matter. Many nearby bars and cafe's offer free wi-fi if you stay for a drink. In terms of location, the city's largest shopping centre is next door and has shops, restaurants, supermarket, department store - everything you could possibly need. If you have no particular need to visit Udon then don't, it has little charm, we have family living nearby. If you can stay in Khon Kaen as an alternative then I would strongly advise you stay at the Pullman (previously Sofitel) - by far the best hotel in the area.

lousy food , really really bad rooms and really poor service. It is poorly run and was the only game in town but that is changing The fitness centre must have been equipped in the 50"s and hotel beds must have been bought used!!!! really is a bad hotel.

One Happy Farung!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/3/07
As a ''Farung'' visiting Udon I must say this hotel has everything. A modern shopping mall next door with a grocery store that carries an excellent variet of western style foods and wines. A nice little pub across the street where you can meet a lady friend for some company. The food in the hotel is excellent and the breakfast buffet is huge. The rooms are big and comfortable. The workout room has all you need and I highly recommend getting a massage after you workout. You will be totally relaxed... The service throughout the hotel was friendly and helpful. Well worth the price. I'LL BE BACK!!!

Stinks!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/06
I booked this hotel because it is close to the bus station and I was traveling to Vientiane in the early morning. It was a busy day for them and they gave me the "last" room, with no window at the regular "rip off the foreigner" rate. When I got into the room, it smelled like a dog peed on the carpet, and then died there. It was so awful the smell even prevented me from sleeping. I went down to the front desk, politely explained the situation and asked if they had anywhere else I could sleep or if they could get me a new hotel. It took them an hour to figure out that they did have another room, but it was a suite. Then they CHARGED me for the upgrade! I tried to speak with a manager several times before leaving and emailed them with no response. If you have to stay here, use an overseas credit card so that you have some hope of getting refunded for getting a "five star" room that is unfit to sleep in.
