Now it is no good
By ,
We used to stay there all the time. I had to leave Costa Rica for my three month visa exit and ended up here. I payed cash for the night I stayed there and found out a month later they had charged me for two nights on my credit card. I fought the bill and six months later it was taken off my bill. We will never, ever stay there again.

I'd rather not
By ,
I stayed in Hotel Cocibolca for 6 nights with a volunteering group. I stayed in room 6 with two other roommates. Upon inspecting my bedding, the sheets were dirty and were never changes for the 6 nights that i stayed. The bath towels were stained and not changed daily. I had to ask for new towels several times, which they stored in a plastic bag underneath the stairwell. There were bed bugs not only in my bed but in the rooms beside us. The rooms had a lot of mosquitoes and ants. In room 6, the shower head was rusting and the water pressure was poor. There was no hot water. In the morning the staff are noisy and can be heard at 5 am. The location of this hotel is perfect. All you have to walk is two blocks in any direction and there are internet cafes, restaurants, and bars. The town square which is 4 blocks away from the hotel is lively and worthwhile to see. There are lots of souvenirs to be bought at the town square. The restaurants close to the hotel range from American style to Mediterranean to traditional. I went to several restaurants around the hotel, and the food is plentiful and delicious- definitely worth the money. The cost of the hotel was cheap, but you get what you pay for (quality wise). I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you are staying for more than 2 nights. The bed bugs are vicious! But the location is just perfect. So if you don't mind getting bitten then go for it!

Will look elsewhere next trip
By ,
Staff was kind but not dependable. Each morning through most of day there was no water pressure, manager could not regulate the pressure for second floor, except dribble from shower head. Small ants roam through the room from unscreened windows. Only breakfast is served and is continental style, cold white toast, fruit melon only. Price is relative, however, if you can put up with shower late at night only. No local cellular calls can be made from hotel desk, no phones in rooms. Charged $3.00 for using maid's cell phone for one minute.

great value, wonderful staff
By ,
This is probably the best value for the money of any hotel I stayed in during my recent vacation. Good location, clean well maintained rooms, fair prices and English speaking staff made this a winner. From now on when I go to Granada I'm staying at the Hotel Cocibolca.
