Stella Di Mare Resort, Sues

My wife and I, along with our small five year old, wanted to go to the beach while we were staying in Cairo but really didn't know where to go. A friend of ours suggested we visit Stella di Mare, so I made some reservations and off we were the next day. After about an hour drive we came on the resort and I must say I was happy with it, the area seemed nice, gardens were well kept. We entered the hotel, the Stella Grand, and checked in. It took them around 20 minutes to check us in, which was a little unpleasant but the kindness of the people at the front desk helped put me at ease. The room could have been a little bit cleaner and the remote control for the tv was damaged, but we called the front desk and they soon fixed our problem (roughly in 40 minutes), so I was very happy. The pool is something else entirely, it is beautiful and truly a page out of a fairy tale. Its shaped like a lake and it was very pleasant for me and my wife. The animation team kept our little girl happy as could be with small games and left us parents time to relax. The food was good, which was a nice surprise because my friend said that the food had not been the greatest. To be honest it was wholesome and well cooked, and I am generally VERY picky about my food. The beach is clean, pristine, and a small piece of red sea heaven. My wife spent some time in the thalasso there and she was truly happy. The thalasso they have in the hotel is HUGE, we were a little lost as we don't usually go to spas or thalassos but the staff there was friendly and helpful. Overall my experience in Stella was an unforgettable one. It was the rest and relaxing I needed, I even managed to get 18 holes on the golf course. While I cannot speak for others, my family and I were truly happy there, we ate well, were served well, and had plenty of time to relax. I'm still surprised that the water temperature in the pool and the sea was good enough to swim in Novemeber out of all months. So if you are in Cairo and want an escape from the hectic capital get yourself a relaxing weekend at Stella. I highly recommend it to families especially, because there is something for everyone.

My family and I stayed three days at the Stella Di Mare Hotel in April 2007. Although the hotel website shows immaculate pictures of the hotel and rates itself as a 5-star hotel, this was far from what I found at the hotel. It took more than 1 hour to check-in, when we did finally reach the room it was not clean and had torn towels hanging in the bathroom. I made an immediate call to front desk to complain and they finally sent someone at 9 p.m. that evening to clean the room and replace the towels. During our stay my husband got food poisoning, it was severe he fell and hit his head on the wall. I had to call for the hotel doctor in the early morning hours for this medical emergency but to my horror it took the doctor more than a half hour to come to the room because he had to first consult with the hotel G.M. In the end the hotel was more concerned about protecting its reputation then the health and well being of the hotel guest. There was much to complain about this hotel, check-out was a disaster, I had to call the tourist police to come to the hotel and I filed a complaint. I complained to the hotel headquarters and sent correspondences, however, the headquarters did not respond back. Luxor and Sharm is where we usually vacation and my experiences in those locations have always been wonderful. I will never again stay at the Stella De Mare Hotel.
