Hotel Carmencita, Anacapri

I give Hotel Carmencita an above average rating for a budget, 2-star hotel. I was delighted by the staff (Mario and his wife and daughter), I looked forward each morning to the warm, fresh croissants, delicious cappucino, and orange juice, and I felt safe and comfortable throughout my stay. At the time, the regular rates were 118 euros (incl breakfast), but we got a "special deal" for our 8-day stay with cash payment. The advise was excellent, the attitude friendly without being fake, the rooms were very clean, simple, (ours had a small balcony), and the interior of the hotel was well kept up. There's an Internet point right in the hotel for 1 euro per 15 minutes. I used it several times. Right on the bus line, it was a short trip to sunbathing at Faro, the city of Capri, Blue Grotto, and Marina Grande. It's walking distance to the chair lift to Mt. Solaro (and Cetrella) and to the wonderful Villa San Michele--even walking with a cane, as I did. The very nearby street of shops, restaurants, and churches between Piazza San Nicola and Piazza Vittoria in Anacapri had lots of local flavor--much different than the extremely expensive designer fare in the city of Capri on the other side of the island (a 10-min trip). Some Anacapri restaurants come to pick you up right from the hotel at no charge.
