KEEP DRIVING, STAY AWAY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/07
This was the most rude owner, combined with an overpiceed smelly room..just keep driving to somewhere else. Yes, I stayin the eastern sierras several times a year...I understand the hardships of runnig a motel in a small town. but this owner is RUDE, the rooms SMELL, you have to buy your own soap and toilet paper at the nearby market (and shampoo) June Lake is nice, it's "OK", but it's not that nice to overpay for this and to be miserable... keep driving north or south, sleep in your car, you will be much happier and will save the extortion room rates. with a room that stinks so bad it is on the roof of your mouth for days after. STAY AWAY, the Eastern sierras have so much to offer, this owner needs to go.

Nice stay
By Travelmom, 10/11/07
I stayed at the Villager this last weekend and had a good time. My room was clean and had a fireplace. But I was in the office and there was a nice young girl working the desk and this older man was yelling at her about someone parking by his unite. The young girl was great she tolled the man that she would do the best she could to find the owner of the car. Well this man was not happy with this and he continued to yell at this girl asking for all kinds off discounts. The girl said I will save you all kinds of money please leave this hotel immediately. The man walked out still yelling at the girl. People just dont get it. When you go to a small Mtn. town you are staying in a mom and pop hotel. Dont expect the Hilton

Nice owner
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/8/07
We found the woman who runs the Villager very nice, and very helpful. We had car trouble and had to leave a day early, and she did not charge us for the cancellation. She even gave us movies to watch in the room while we were there. It certainly is bare-bones accomodations, but I really don't have a problem brining my own shampoo. The hot tub was running, but not heated for the evening- that was disappointing. But it was our only problem while we are there. Since they allow pets, we will go back again.

great for pets and their owners
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/20/07
We loved the place. After reading reviews we were not sure about staying here but we will be back. The accomodations were clean and comfortable and the managemnt was great and helpful. The spa was open. There is no bakery but we never were told there was one. The Tiger Bar across the street has good breakfasts !!!!We have stayed all over June LAke and the Villager was wonderful and very well priced.

Go to Mammoth
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/06
Saw your review and couldn't agree with you more. I stayed there recently myself. Not only is the owner the rudest person I've ever encountered, her website makes claims that are false. It advertises that it has a bakery and for an extra $5 you can have a continental breakfast. First off, who charges for a continental breakfast?! With the price she charged us we should have gotten that for free. Secondly, I'd like to know where the bakery was? We were there for three days and saw no evidence of such a place. She also advertised they had a Jacuzzi. There was one, but it was closed for the summer. We were there the middle of November! In addition this place does not supply you with the essentials like shampoo and such. If you want to use the wood burning stoves, you have to pay extra for the wood, as well as purchase your own fire starter. No matches either! Save your money. You can get a better room in Mammoth for the same price.

DON'T STAY AT THE VILLAGER!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/06
The owner of the June Lake Villager is the rudest business person I have ever met. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!! Promises made in advance over the phone by her employees are not honored. After the long drive to June Lake, we were excited at first but this owner woman put a damper on the trip and we have "buyer's remorse" about spending so much money at her place. There are several other nice places in the area, The Villager is not worth the money nor the aggravation. Do yourself a favor and don't give this woman a dime!
