Don't be fooled!
The other reviews sound like they were written by Bimini Bay's public relations department. We were told the restaurant was not even open this time of year (October when we visited). The "beach" is a strip of sand about 20' wide backed up by a high sea wall. Bimini Bay is located at the extreme north end of the island, you cannot reasonably walk to anything that is not within Bimini Bay's high gates and walls, so if you want to go to the bar, the nice beach, or an open restaurant, you have to hop in the golf cart (if you have one or have rented one for your stay) for a long ride to the south end of the island.
The promised hotel, casino and golf course are not opening anytime soon, if ever. The Bahamian Government has finally woken up to the environmental damage being wrought by Bimini Bay and has restricted (at least for now) any further development. Thank God! Bimini Bay has succeeded in obliterating a good portion of the local ecology, specifically the mangroves that used to thrive there. Their plans for the hotel, casino and golf course would wipe out what's left of the mangroves, which are critical breeding grounds for reef fish and other fish, and thereby ravaging the local coral reefs and associated diving industry.
By all means GO TO THE ISLAND OF BIMINI, it's a wonderful island with the friendliest people you'll find anywhere. We were there in October and were constantly amazed at how EVERYONE on the street said hello to us. But I'd stay at the south end of the island, in Alice Town at one of the Bahamian-owned hotels or guest houses, and be where the beautiful beach is (I guarantee the beach shown on Bimini Bay Resort's website does not exist within or near their property), where the restaurants, bars, dive boats and other activities are located.
