El Virrey, Bogota

Dirty bed and bathroom, it looked like somebody just left the room minutes before they gave it to me, it still smelled like cigarrette smoke. No heat. I also requested the airport taxi service and they never showed up. The restaurant made up for all of my bad experience at this hotel, the food was very good.

Excellent service. Especially the desk clerk, Claudia and waiter, Andres. One other, a gentleman that is a bellman. Never found out his name, but he had a neatly trimmed thin beard. Entire hotel is clean, clean, clean. Rooms are small but still big enough. Bathroom is modern with a shower, good water pressure, hair dryer in bathroom. Seemed as though the small staff worked 24 hours, but are still very friendly and helpful. Restaurants food was good, and a fair price. Only half a block from a major street with shopping, casinos, cafe's, restaurants, and bus service. The bad? Location is on a street lined with abandoned buildings and small cafe's, and parking lots. The neighborhood is being renovated and there is a lot of potential. The elevator was noisy and could be heard all night. Rooms could use a fan, better pillows and more towels. But for the price, this is one of the best bargains in Bogota. Far better service and friendlier than the 4 and 5 star hotels I've stayed at in Bogota. This is where I stay in Bogota from now on.
