Nice grounds, great view, but absolutely no public space whatsoever, at least in the rain. The hosts basically sit in their living room and you get the vibe that they do not want to see you around. This is someone's house made into a B&B. You are expected to be OUT on the town, or in your room. I had an issue because I had small children and it was pouring rain. We were bouncing off the walls in our room, which didn't work for anyone. We had just driven five hours, and had spent three hours in a restaurant killing time and walking around in the rain, and we were soaked. We couldn't use the dryer at the Auberge, which would have been nice since our plans called for camping for the rest of the week. We used the bathroom to take a shower but were chastised for using the "main" bathroom instead of the shower in the renovated closet. For $153 CAN I'm going to use the bathroom. The hosts do make reservations and are very knowledgeable. One gets the sense that they are new at this. The breakfast was fine. The two large tables were set for breakfast at 3:00 pm and therefore unavailable for board game playing by children. There was no Television, and the computer in the middle of the living room was off limits to guests, despite my asking to download a movie for the kids. It was sort of a "not our problem" attitude. We sat oustide on the porch in the pouring rain for lack of anywhere else to sit. The hosts need to understand that people are in their house and mingling among them and that sometimes people can't be cooped up in a small attic room after driving all day. We were at a loss as to where to locate ourselves and there were no lights in the "living room". I think we played cards on the stairs. Nice place if you're not with kids and aren't planning on being actually IN the B&B for any time other than bedtime. The need to better accommodate families in the event of rain.
Stay here if you can get a reservation. It will be your best choice while enjoying theTadoussac area. The owners, Denis and Suzanne, are perfect hosts. Their English is excellent. They will do everything possible to make your Tadoussac visit a great experience. They are very friendly and accommodating. This is their permanent residence and they know the area. They can assist with reservations and really help in your planning. Obviously, we will certainly stay wih them again when we have the opportunity.
