Sea Haven Motel, Rockaway Beach

I stayed at Sea Haven almost two years ago and never left a review. I enjoyed it so much that I felt compelled to finally share my experience! Jeff and Maureen welcomed my girlfriend and I with open arms, going out of their way for us to have a comfortable stay on our way to and from the Vancouver Olympics from California. The drive is beautiful but long, and our stay at Sea Haven was our favorite stop. The rooms are comfortable and the kitchen is well-stocked with the comforts of your home kitchen, not just the standard things. They take pride in the small things like having good towels and adding a personal touch to the decorations. They even gave us a free upgrade when one of the nicer rooms wasn't taken! The guest house wasn't completed at the time but we were given a tour of the progress and it was apparent that they put a lot of thought into making it convenient and comfortable. Bike riders going along the coast would be wise to stop in! Although we didn't get to spend much time in Rockaway Beach, it seemed like a friendly, relaxing community. I'd love to go back sometime to enjoy some of the nature that Jeff and Maureen explained to us, and of course I'd stay at Sea Haven again!

Love the location. Proximity to the beach is nice. Just a short walk. Great to have a kitchen for a few days. The town is close by. Didn't hear any road noise in our unit. The staff are very helpful. Pleasantly surprised by the place. It is also clean! We were on a long driving trip and it was a nice place to stay put for a while. The beach around this area is very nice and not crowded. Went for a run on the beach in the morning. Watch out for the darn little streams flowing into the ocean. It cuts up the beach but that seems to be almost anywhere on the coast over there. The bedroom was very tight and really not anywhere in that room to put our bags but it was great to have a separate room when traveling with a young child . There is a larger closet in the main room to put stuff away.

I've never felt like I was at home when I was on a vacation. To be able to get away from all life worries to be welcomed by two wonderful people and a apartment like unit, couldn't ask for anything better then that! I loved being able to do my normal daily functions, specially having kids you can't get out of routine, and then being able to walk across the street to enjoy the beautiful beach. For the rates they have and how much the offer in return, which is over an beyond most places, I'd recommend a night stay there to anyone I pass by.

This place was so much better then any other motel (both privet owned and chain operated) I have ever stayed in. True they don't provide you breakfast but you have access to a full kitchen so they don't really need to. My mom and I stayed there, with my dog, and had so much fun. It was so nice to be able to cook our own dinner in our room. We stayed in the motel part because of the dog (they don't allow pets in the hostel, being public and all). The only potently down side is that you don't have a beach view, but the beach is right across the street, so visiting it for the sunset/sunrise is really no big deal. The staff is super nice and helpful and the price is very reasonable for what you get. Each room in the motel part is slightly different to accommodate different group sizes and there is an out door fire pit they offered to start up for us if we wanted. I'm telling everyone I know about this place and if I ever need to/want to stay the night on the coast (I live in Portland so it's a day trip for me really) I'm totally staying here. I hope you do too.

we spent 4 days and 3 night and cant beat the full kitchen, the beds make u think ur sleeping on a cloud and they have more towels than u can use in a month and oh so soft!!!! 3 tuff crabers and fisherman will be going back !!!!!!!

We spent 1 night in this cozy, little place. As there weren't any single rooms left we took the bunk room with 6 beds but ended up alone in it. So in the end we had our single room;o) The rooms are very clean and new. There are 2 lovely bathrooms and you should see the kitchen/living room. I'v never seen such a nice place in a hostel! There is one kitchen facility with all the stuff you need. Furthermore, there is plenty of food to share (even cream with flavours for your coffee;o)) and a tv with dvd-player and such a comfortable couch. The owners are very nice couple and put a lot of effort in this business. Thank you so much and keep on going!

This was a very pleasant surprise. The place was immaculate, cozy, comfortable and we slept like a baby. Jeff and Maureen have made this place a wonderful haven. I don't think there was one thing left that wasn't thought of for everyone's comfort. It was like a home away from home. I would most definitely come here again and again. Jeff and Maureen are so talented and creative. They are welcoming and very helpful. They even go out of their way to help customers. It is truly because of them that we would come back in a minute. We stayed in the hostel and enjoyed sitting around talking to the other guests. We liked it so much that we passed out their business cards to travelers along the way. Thanks Jeff and Maureen. You two are an inspiration.

Highly recommend this little motel!!! The rooms were immaculate, decorated cozy, and well-stocked. We cooked our meals, and they've got everything you'd need, including basic spices, foil, plastic wrap, etc. Even had a basket of snacks, coffee & hot drink mixes, microwave popcorn. We had our dog, and it's a very pet-friendly place! They only charge $7 per pet for the entire stay, and they donate this to the local animal shelter. It's a short walk to a gorgeous beach, and close to many other scenic areas. Jeff and Maureen (owners) are amazing people- extremely helpful and friendly. They had tips on local attractions, restauraunts, and even gave us a handful of sand dollars that they'd found on the beach. Genuinely wonderful folks, and they made our stay great. They are almost ready to open a hostel next to the motel. We had a tour, and it is fantastic! A clean, lovely place for very reasonable price for those who need either a dormitory-type room, or they also have 5 private rooms that will share bathrooms, kitchen and living room. This is a great place and a great value!

I did not have to dig in my bags for cooking, it had a full kitchen set-up, laundry in room, home comfort a big plus.

This place was great. Everything you need was right there,all of my family were pleasantly surprised. We looked at the outside online and it looked like an old motel, but when we got there we were amazed, very nicely decorated, everything updated inside. Maureen was very accommodating, even putting an extra mattress pad for the extra person we had. The beach just a short walk. Dogs were welcomed too! We will definitely be back and definitely recommend this place.
