My daughters and I brought my wife in this restaurant for dinner to celebrate Mother's day on Friday, 5/11/2012 at apx. 6: 15 p.m. We seated ourselves as instructed by a sign at the door entrance. We were dressed semi-formal and we were ready to splurge our money to celebrate Mother's day. We patiently waited to be acknowledge by the wait staff for at least 25 minutes. In that duration, there were 5 separate parties that came in the restaurant after us and they also seated themselves. They were immediately acknowledged and given glasses of water and their orders were promptly taken.
My family and I were deliberately ignored and bypassed by the wait staff. I looked around and noticed that my family and I were the only minority there. (We are Asians.) People around us kept looking at the direction of our table and definitely noticing that we are deliberately being ignored by the waitstaff. We were so embarrassed and uncomfortable that we finally got up and left. In all our years of dining out and having lived in Washington State, Colorado, California, Nevada and Hawaii, we were never ever discriminated upon. It is not a good feeling when you are discriminated upon. So instead, we ended up at the Outback Restaurant in Lancaster St. where the wait staff are AWESOME and had a wonderful and enjoyable Mother's day dinner.
