Cedar House Sport Hotel, Truckee

I stayed at the Cedar House Hotel with a big group for a family reunion. The staff at the hotel was incredibly accomdating in every way!!! It was such a wonderful expereince and they were on top of it--helping us arrange hikes, dinners, preparing for a picnic, and our own breakfast (which was wonderful!). It was a great experience, would definatly go back!

We picked the Cedar House because we were traveling with our dog and loved the dog friendly attitude of the staff. We enjoyed sitting in the outdoor patio area eating our complimentary breakfast with our dog and other guests' dogs. The room was nice but the bed setup was somewhat strange. Since the TV was mounted on a side wall you had to turn around in bed and use backrests to lean on to watch it. Bathroom was very nice, great shower. The staff was very courteous and someone came to our room when we checked in to explain how everything worked. We would go back again.

This is my second season staying at the Cedar House, and I won't stay anywhere else. The rooms are spotless and well-designed for the sporting guest. The atmosphere is welcoming from when you first walk in the door. Breakfast is delightful, and meeting in the lobby after a day of skiing is just fun. Jeff and Patty make the whole experience a joy. I feel like family each and every time I stay. It just doesn't get any better.

The place is clean and the staff is friendly. But the rooms are an unsuccesful attempt at comfort and style. Poorly planned lighting and furniture arrgmts. made it something of a joke. Ridiculous decorating and very seriously overpriced!

As it started to snow we made a last minute decision to stay a Saturday night in Truckee and so called up a lot of the local hotels. Initially we considered the rate at the Cedar House to be a little on the high end, but compared to the rates we got from the standard, lower-end hotels like the Holiday Inn Express, Best Western, and Hampton Inn were offering it really was quite reasonable. The location is just down the road from historic Truckee, making it easy for us to grab dinner. The hotel itself was brand new, and very inviting. The king standard room we got was a decent size, extremely clean, and very modern. Nice bathroom. It had a room safe as well fridge with complimentary bottled water (unlike the $3 water 'offered' at some places. I hate being nickel and dimed�) The bed was super comfortable, and there was an LCD TV. The continental breakfast was above and beyond the normal fare, with croissants, bagels, muffins. Smoked salmon, cheese, and assorted fruits and yogurts. They were also ready with fresh lattes and hot chocolate. For breakfast and in the evenings the lobby/bar was a comfortable place to relax by the fire. The owners (and their dog Jake) are extremely hospitable and engaging. We'll definitely stay at the Cedar House again.
