Redwood Lodge, Whitney

There were four of us and the beds were terrible. THe place was somewhat dirty but the sheets and linens were clean. Kitchen was not well stocked but we managed to cook breakfast every morning. We had a good time and the people were very nice. If you're a smoker you will love this place. Everybody smokes and you can smoke just about anywhere. BUT if you don't like smoke (like me) forget it. You can't eat in the restuarant or go to the game room because the smoke will kill you. THe place needs some care. It is old and falling apart. That being said they tried hard to make us comfortable and the people were very nice. Probably not a place we will return to.

Yes, the cabin was old and the carpet was stained in a few places, but the linens were washed and fresh and the owners were very nice. The king-sized bed was very uncomfortable. We did not eat in the restaurant - we were told the cabin had a kitchenette. No oven though, so we didn't get biscuits the next day. We tried on the grill but that didn't work. Also very lacking in pots, pans, plates, silverware, so I hope they like what we donated. The "petting zoo" consists of two rabbits, a turtle, some budgies and a couple of finches. Our daughter (11) enjoyed that, but the water for the animals look like it hadn't been changed in weeks. The fireworks were great on Saturday night. The pool was cloudy, so we didn't let the kids spend too much time in there and made sure they were showered later. There is no lake access from this lodge. I didn't know Lake Whitney only has one beach, but we were within a 10-minute drive of it. Would I go back? Probably on another Groupon, but not at the prices they list on the website.

We had a great time at Redwood lodge, our cabin was clean, the kitchen supplies were not well stocked but luckily we brought our own. The kids had a great time in the free game room, pool, and petting zoo. We also rented a canoe and went out on Lake Whitney to swim. The lodge also did outside movie nights and karaoke which we all loved. Great family fun!!!

The rooms where small but clean the pool And lake are georgeous the staff was amazing the movies by the pool wrere fun and the patio entertainment was great peacoks bunnies tturtles and birds were so awsesomemformthe kids thanks for a great weekend.

First the good - the staff and owners are very nice and friendly. However, if you expect to go camping you might be disappointed and if you expect a lodge you will definitely be disappointed. The facility is falling apart. Rooms are old and dated with holes and water stains on the ceiling. Carpets are stained and dirty. Floors of the "cabins" are rotten and about to fall through. Toilets don't work well and showers are bigger on cruise ships. Rooms just didn't feel clean and do not wear white socks in the room - you won't like what happens to them. There is no such thing as "lake view" because dense trees obscure the lake from those supposed rooms. Also the restaurant is only open on weekends but the food is not good anyway (either frozen or from a box, can or bag). Only the Alfredo pizza and burger is decent. There is NOTHING near by to see or do. So, if you plan on going bring your own entertainment, food, shampoo, soap, towels and Lysol. And if you care about what you sleep on bring your own bed sheets and pillows too.

The views from the patio are breathtaking. The staff was very friendly, courteous, and accommodating. Will be coming back in the Fall.

Redwood Lodge is under new ownership. Please notice the date difference in the two previous reviews. Redwood is a very old lodge and is under renovation with several new and refurbished cabins. The pool is repaired and the new restaurant will be opening soon.
