Stay Away From This Place!
By Tom, 10/28/09
I was totally deceived into thinking this was going to be a decent place for a one nights stay, but we are completely fooled by the website. The pictures in no way represent what you will get when you arrive. We selected a lodge room, which we were told were "totally remodeled and modern". I saw the following: unpainted trimwork w/ nails sticking out; no phone in room; satellite TV w/ no way of adjusting the volume or ability to remotely turn the TV off; no fire alarm; no manner to lock the door from inside (no chain, bolt, or swing-arm lock). The TV was a early '80s color TV. The mattress was disgusting and the pillows are about 2" thick. The "continental breakfast" advertised on the website consisted of 2 6oz cans of pineapple juice and 2 pre-packaged blueberry muffins that were left on the desk when we checked-in. The food might have been good had we been able to sit down. At chec-in, I asked if we needed a reservation and was told "no". We came down to eat to us stand in the hall-way for 10 minutes while the waitress, " would see what he could do". We seem to have been forgotten about, then went to Applebees in Elkins (very nice for an Applebees by the way). The rooms are above the restaurant, so the noise level is naturally high. It's also conforting to know there is a full commercial kitchen in operation 8' below where we sleep w/ no fire alarm! Do yourself a favor and go to a Econo 8 or sleep in your car...you'll be better off. In addition, this place cost us over $100.

Website is Deceptive
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/05/09
Primitive conditions with dirty room, no toilet paper, two dimly lit lamps, noise from four-lane highway. Over-priced and did not match description and services on website.

The View is to die for!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/26/09
My husband and I totally enjoyed our stay here. We got a room above the restaurant. It was very basic, nothing special, but the view was "to die for". The room was clean and roomy, just no frills at all, but it didn't matter to me because of the view. The room could easily be upgraded whenever they decide to do that. My husband and I had dinner at the restaurant. It was pricey, but outstanding - the food was absolutely delicious and the wine was great. We ate outside on the deck with the beautiful setting and it was very festive and romantic. I would definitely recommend this Inn as a nice mountain experience.

don't bring young kids
By z, 11/16/07
The food is excellent, the view is fabulous, but they do not treat you well if you have young children in your party. If they don't want young kids they should not have a high chair (which was broken anyway), or should have some sort of posted policy. Instead we were brought our check in the middle of our meal, even though our son eats out all the time and was very well behaved through the meal.

Our Reservations Were Canceled
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/27/07
I have no basis to describe the service, rooms or locations because two days after we made our reservations for a bungalow during the busy Forest Festival weekend, they were cancelled. We were told the "owners" were coming in and they had reserved the wrong dates, thus overbooking. I have camped in the area with my family for close to 20 years. My 5 year old daughter was thrilled to be staying "on the mountain" we had a great time looking at the online pictures and planning our trip. With family and friends coming from as far as South Carolina, we were left with heavy hearts and a very bitter taste in our mouths for "The Lodge"

Looking forward to a return visit.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/26/07
What a best kept secret. We first stayed in the Lodge rooms which are located directly above the restaurant. Nice, clean spacious rooms, a balcony that overlooks the beautiful mountains and the privacy we were looking for. The restaurant is one of the best where we have ever eaten, we ate there both nights, there was so much to choose from. They were just completing bungalows that look charming. We will be going back to try them and extend our stay as there is so much to do in the vicinity. Great Staff. A solid 10!!

Great stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/13/07
Great dining! Million dollar view! Super nice folks too! Really close to Canaan Valley and Seneca Rocks. The lodging is brand new, the dining is out of this world. It was a great retreat.
