they should take the Knights Inn name away!!!!
I have stayed at Knight's Inn in Maine and had a good room, clean pool, decent breakfast. I had not one complaint. So when planning a weekend trip to Old Saybrook we chose Knights Inn again, going by its reputation. I think if the president of this hotel chain were to visit, they would not let them use their name.
Pulling into the driveway I kinda had a feeling this place was not going to be the same, it just looked unclean. My greeting at the front desk was by a very shy young man (probably between the age of 13&15). When I got into my room the 1st thing we noticed was they forgot the fridge & microwave. I went up to the main office and again this young man was working the desk. He would let the owners (who I assumed where his parents) know when they returned. Obviously this poor kid was left to run a hotel. Back to the room we find out the TV had horrible reception, very snowy and only a few channels. This time I called the poor kid who again stated that I had to wait for the owners.
I ran into a few other "guests" to find out numerous rooms were rented out weekly to these "transients". They knew the pool hadn't been running in under 5yrs, the TV got terrible reception in all the rooms and they warned me "good luck with getting service around here". Finally around 8pm, the owner (I assume his dad) showed up and asked if we still wanted a fridge & microwave and did we want to try another room but he also said that the had bad reception in all the rooms. (although I did notice the clear picture on the TV in the main office). We stayed in the room as it was late enough only regretting it at 3am to find out they turn off the A/C (set on a timer). The shower hose had no place to hook it up, that was also broken. There were bugs (which I wouldnt mind if I was camping). I couldn't find anyone to get clean towels in the morning but the office was wide open & unattended. One of the transients helped me as he said he was left in charge for the day....although he was watching a game on TV in another transients room (as they all leave their doors open) and the activity in the parking lot all night was "a bit much". There was no breakfast or even coffee in the morning...although by this point i dont think I wouldve eaten any of it.'the only good thing I could say about the place was....we checked out....
