Mark Twain Hotel, Los Angeles

O.k. if you're coming out to L.A. with the wife and kids to go to Dinsey Land, don't even consider coming to this place, or any of the several others like it in Hollywood. This place is for people who need a roof over their heads, while they pursue their dreams of stardom. It's a flop house, and not much of one, but you'll have a hell of a story to tell later, about how you went out to Hollywood, to give your dreams a shot, and had to live in very colorful places like this, with equally colorful people.

i understand that people diss this place, but i loved it for many years. i was an actor in L.A. for 15 years and several of those years i lived at the Mark Twain. it is NOT FOR TOURISTS. my salad days as an actor were mostly spent here and i have a very warm affinity for the place. it is centrally located to 'downtown' Hollywood and it is a lot of fun and cozy for artisits. i love the Mark Twain - looking at the pictures of it brings back so many memories, but remember, it is not for out-of-town folks who are expecting a Holiday Inn. young actors should like it... I did.

This was absolutely the worst hotel on the planet. It smelled of fowl feminine oder and was riddled with bugs and crack heads. The staff is THE WORST and very unfriendly. I literally threw up in my mouth when we saw our room.

Here are a few things i experienced during my 1 week stay at the Mark Twain Hotel -Bugs in my room -A rat in my room -Unfriendly staff The place is pretty inexpensive ( about $200 per week with tax included) just remember not to bring any food in your room or you will attract bugs and rats.

where to start 1 bugs 2 no heat only when they turn it on 3 bugs 4 my syeam heater was busted open so when the heat was turned on steam was every where 5 bugs 6 no or little hot water 7 bugs 8 the place fas bot been painted in 39 years 9 bugs 10 the place stank of many body fluids 11 bugs 12 they say they got cable they do not out side of pirated signal 13 one phone for the whole hotel 14 bugs 15 they say they have transportation they tell you to take the bus 16 bugs

I used to live at this Hotel back in 1991 when I first moved to Los Angeles. This is not a vacation destination Hotel. This is a hotel for local people trying to get on their feet in Hollywood. You only stay here when your choices are very limited. For example... (you have almost no money and can't afford an apartment.) It's not a nice hotel at all. It is without question a Dive. This place makes Motel 6 look like The Hilton! Chances are good that you will see roaches. I saw them every day. You should only stay here if your only other option would be to sleep on the street. No joke either. Don't say you wern't warned.
