This place is nothing like the advertisements and website. It is dirty, noisy, smells bad and the owner/operator/manager is rude, insulting, nasty and waiting to ruin you and your family's trip.
AVOID THIS NASTY HOTEL
My husband and I checked in to the Mission Inn B&B in March of 08 to celebrate our anniversary.
First off, it's RIGHT on Ortega Hwy, so you have the sights, sounds, and smells of heavy traffic all day, all night. The lobby, or "parlor" as they call it, is tiny, tacky, and completely understaffed.
The room was completely misrepresented in the website. We paid over $200 a night for a small, cramped room. The bathroom was a closet and the actual closet was falling apart. The bed was old and very uncomfortable, the linens were thread-bare and the only table was an end table with two small chairs. The only thing that was nice about the room was the orange scent in the air.
The grounds were very "rough" looking and reminded me of a back-yard, far too homey for a B&B. The service was awful, the "innkeeper" was rude and very unfriendly. The "expanded European breakfast" was nothing more than a scone, yogurt, and coffee.
The coffee & tea set up was supposed to be avalible until the evening, it wasn't. I went out for a cup of tea around 4 pm, and the entire set up was gone!
There were no phones in the room, the shower curtain was faulty, the walls were thin.
The Mission Inn B&B was nothing more than a tacky motel with faux English country style furnishing and plastic lawn chairs scattered here and there.
Stay away from this "B&B", you're better off staying at the Best Western down the street!
This is the worst place I have ever stayed at in my life! I am not usually the type of person to complain, but this place has to be exposed for what it is. The property is completely misrepresented from their website. What they call a “romantic bed and breakfast” is actually a run down tacky motel.
The place is right off the freeway so you get all the noise from there. We arrived at the location before 8pm and the parking lot was pitch black. Absolutely no lighting in the parking lot. Dangerous to walk around. The check-in desk was closed and no staff were anywhere to be found. Our room key was just left under the front mat of our room. Terrible security risk. The room was the smallest room I have ever seen in a hotel/motel. Absolutely no privacy. The room window is just feet from parking lot.
The worst part was the room smelled terrible. The smell was so bad it made me actually sick. However, there was no staff anywhere! There was no way we could stay there so we left the key under the mat where we found it and went home.
I called the next day to politely explain the problem with the smell and I asked for a refund. Instead of apologizing, the owner became hostile and yelled at me over the phone saying, “I don’t care about whatever smell. Don’t ever call here again.” Then he hung up on me. Unbelievable.
This place needs to be shut down. Rudest service I have ever had. The room was terrible and nothing like their website. How they can justify charging $175 and up a night for a run down smelly motel room is beyond me. They also require you to cancel your reservation 14 days in advance or they charge you.
