My husband and i chose to stay at the Viking motel in Portland on the recommendation of friends when we needed a place to stay while awaiting the birth of our granddaughter. It was convenient to the freeway and therefore very easy to find. As another reviewer already wrote, the owners went out of their way to take care of our needs and make sure we were comfortable and felt welcome. It was very affordable, had a microwave and mini-fridge, and was within walking distance to a wonderful natural foods store and the MAX. A great find in PDX!

This place is truly the best kept motel secret in Portland. The same owner for more than thirty years, he takes personal pride in the rooms, the customers and making sure you have a wonderful stay in PDX. A patio area in the back sports a BBQ for customers to use and there's totally clean washer and dryer (coin operated) for convenience' sake. The maids show special attention to the rooms which are well-appointed and feature AC and cable TV with WiFi in every room. Great location right near the MAX and near local restaurants and grocery stores. For the money which is modest, you won't find a better place anywhere in North Portland. No wonder people keep coming back year after year! Five stars for this place!

We travel for my husband's work, and spent about a month and a half at the Viking Motel. The staff was wonderful. They did everything in their power to make our stay here comfortable. We travel with a small dog, and they are extremely pet friendly. It's clean, in a decent location close to grocery stores and a few restaurants, right next to public transportation, and just off of I-5. We will definitely stay here again in we are in the Portland area.

The best deal for the money in Portland.. The owner, who has run the motel for 30 years is very kind and accomadating, bending over backwards to give you a nice room. The motel is conveniently located right on the MAX. I would definitely stay there again. The only negative was that some of the rooms have had smokers in them, but the newly renovated rooms were clean and smelled fine.

Considering it's location would seem unfavorable, it is the cleanest hotel on that street.
