IF YOU WANT CLEAN, YOU DON'T WANT THIS PLACE
By KW, 11/16/11
Where should I begin? I stayed in the infamous water tower room on the night of 11/11/11 after a family wedding. PRICE: For $99 I expected MUCH more. Other hotel rooms in Bodega Bay in the same price range have LOTS more space and way better accommodations. ROOM SIZE: I'm not kidding when I say this place is suitable for munchins. The room is barely big enough to accomodate the bed (which had a stained/soiled top cover). I don't think each side of the bed had more than 18" clearance to the wall (and one side is half taken up by a wall heater), and it was barely 4 feet at most from the foot of the bed to the chest of drawers. The room dimensions are about 9 x 8, and is is so small that if you have just one suitcase it's annoying 'cause there really isn't anywhere to put it without tripping over it. More than one suitcase will definitely challenge your patience. ACCOMMODATIONS: If you come to this room with a lot of clothes, then you can forget about hanging them all up. This room comes equipped with only 3 hooks on the wall - which is more than just inconvenient if you bring a couple of suits, jackets, shirts, etc. For two people, this could be a clothing nightmare. BATHROOM: If you are 6'3" (like me) or taller, then expect to hit your head squarely on the entranceway to the tiny bathroom. Also, the only mirror in the bathroom is about 1 foot x 2 feet, and is positioned on the wall above the sink at a DOWNWARD angle. This means that a tall person can see everything from the neck to the bellybutton (maybe). It would have been appreciated if the size of the room, zero closet space, and the low hanging door jam to the bathroom had been communicated to me by the BHI staff. Had I known this, I would not have made a reservation with them for that room. "Rustic" is fine, but hitting my head is not. Another thing that really peeved me was the wall outlets in this room. I needed to charge the battery for my camera for the wedding brunch the next day, and when I plugged the charger into the wall next to the bed, it actually FELL OUT. I tried unsuccessfully to plug it in again two more times with the same result. I had to plug it into the only other outlet I could find, which was the sole plug remaining in the extension cable for the TV. Good luck if you need to charge your cell phone at the same time... PARKING is a joke. The lot is undersized, and they do NOT assign parking spaces for each room (and if they do, they don't enforce it). The result is someone could have multiple cars for one room, and if you come back to the Inn late at night (as I did, after a long wedding event) - good luck finding a spot. CLEANLINESS: This is where Bodega Harbor Inn inexcusably falls down hard. The black sooty grime on EVERY SINGLE SURFACE, including the bathroom and window sills was substantial. Every surface I took a wet towel to came up VERY black. This was not just a mild case of grime, or a couple overlooked spots - it looked like nothing in the room had even seen a swipe in at least a year. So if clean matters to you, then I wouldn't even consider this place. This obcene lack of cleanliness made me wonder what I WASN'T seeing, know what I mean? My advice is to look elsewhere. I will definitely not be back.

WRONG NAME This is the BODEGA HARBOR INN
By Bodega, 6/28/10
Great rates! However, the description of the amenities this hotel offers are not correct. There is no fitness facility, no pool, no business services, etc. This place is just a very affordable, comfortable and clean place to stay in Bodega Bay with no frills. They do have free WiFi, flat screen TVs and a modest continental breakfast. Nice people, nice place to stay on the coast.

Great Stay - Great price!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/09
We stayed at the Pelican 1 vacation rental $160, right on the water and had a great time. For under $200 - which is great for Bodega Bay - the place was well worth the money. The room had a private deck w/a bbq, king bed and a great view. We saved money cooking dinner on the BBQ so we were able to buy a nice bottle of wine at the local tasting room right next door. I have stayed a lot of places in Bodega Bay and I wish I had found this sooner - it would have saved me a lot of money. I was able to view a few of the Inn rooms when we checked out - super cute and much better than I expected. The managers were very helpful and were a wealth of information about the area. The cons are few - the hot tub is shared with Pelican 2 next door and there were a few spiders in the room, but the room was very clean. Next time we rent both Pelican 1 & 2 for the privacy.
