Tioga Pass Resort, Lee Vining

When I selected this lodging.I did it solely based on location and did not check any resource other than their web site. The location is outstanding! Unfortunately, the rest leaves a lot to be desired .We rented a two room cabin with two bathrooms and showers and small kitchenette for one week. It had a queen bed,full bed and single bed. The price was $215.60 per night taxes included.There is no maid service during your visit and the only way to get fresh towels is to take them to the office for exchange. You must also take your own trash to a dumpster near the office. To get to your cabin you must drive from the office over a wooden bridge and down a drive where the bushes scratch both sides of your vehicle then make a hairpin turn and a sharp left to climb a 30% grade with potholes deep enough to loose a wheel in. Four wheel drive is highly desirable.The cabin has mice and the staff has provided a plastic bin to put any food that you don't want eaten.We saw and heard the mice on numerous occaisions and they did eat candy that was left out. We had difficulty opening the door when it rained and their were gaps under the door that anything could come through.The rooms had lots of cobwebs and we killed 4 or 5 spiders everyday. I looked under the bed and sofa and felt it had not been sweft in a year. There were problems with the parking and the management advised me that If I did not like it,I could leave. In general the property is poorly maintained.There is no phone service and no TV's. The store has little in the way of groceries or fishing supplies. The cafe is too small to get into most of the time. The elevation is approx 9600 feet and climbing the hill with your trash can be very taxing if you have heart problems. In short,I expected a lot more for that kind of money.
