last year after the march 2010 race we re-newed for 2011. when i recieved my visa bill i noticed leanne double billed my card. after numerous phone calls and e-mails nothing was done. we also attended the august 2010 race so i figured we would straighten it out then. i talked to leanne personally and since we were re-newing for august 2011 i showed her where she double billed me and she agreed we were paid for both dates! only to find out two weeks the bank took over and to date im out $480 dollars- - just plain criminal!
I do not get involved in this type of discussion but I think it only fair to tell our story about Thunder Valley Campground and Randy and Leanne Moore. We have been customers for the last 7 years, while every race we see Randy and Leanne deal with thousands of people there are always 2 or 3 that give them trouble the entire time, so if you are making thousands of people happy and only have 2-3 unhappy campers then you are doing a pretty damn good job. Some people can not be made happy no matter how hard you try.
Last august,I received a phone call that my father had a stroke, we only had a camper and no car, I talked to the Moore's and they stopped what they were doing, made a plane reservation, and took my wife and I to the airport, they then they packed up our camper took the awning down loaded everything up and took it inside there shop, and stored it for 2 months ( for no charge ) until I could get back down to bring it home. People only tell the bad stories our society reports all the negative things, I would be more than glad to refer this campground to anyone that wants to stay at a place that has thoughtful and caring owners and employees.
I provided more than 30 day notice (July 2010) that we would need to cancel our reservation due to a medical condition. Here it is now almost mid September and we have not received our refund yet. We have camped at Thundervalley for about 10 years, thought highly of Randy and Leanne Moore , the owners, but cant even get a phone call back about the status. I called race week and was told that the refunds had been processed and the books were closed. This is a sad way to do business.
We had two creekside electric lots reserved and paid for since Oct. 2009. We got there at 1:00 A.M. on Aug. 17th. We were told that the city of Bristol had come in and forced them to move everyone our of the creekside lots and that they didn't have any electric lots available. We were told to park next to the restrooms and to wait until the next morning to talk to the owners so that they could figure out what to do. We did that. The next morning we spoke with them and they told us that they didn't think they had no lots available and we had better hurry up and try to find an alternative campground since there were several campgrounds in the area which this same creek ran through.. We did just that and found a lot at another facility. They told us it was no problem and they would credit us back for the lots, over $1000 I might add. Once we paid for and set up on our new site, we called back so that we could get a receipt for the credit. The woman told us that she was not going to credit our account because they had a 30 day cancellation policy! We are battling thru trying to get our money back. Bottom line: DON'T CAMP HERE. If you have any issues that come up you won't get your money back and they are way rude about it. Ensure that you have a great race week and go to one of the other campgrounds.
