We arrived at noon on Friday. Got a good spot for the 10 of us right on the river. Campground was clean. No hot water in the "bath house" but it was clean. Port-potties were even actually decent. This is a party camp ground. BUT the cops did come thru on both nights of our stay & make people calm down & turn off the music. A few people down the way from us decided to crank it back up a little later in the night but it wasn't 2 bad. Get there early! Get your spot picked out & keep in mind it is open camping & first come/first serve. Set your campsite up in a way that people cant get right up next to you. The float trip we took was 14.9 miles & it was great. There were all types of people from young to old & most were there to party (just like us). Most of the people we ran into were decent but there were a few having a little to much fun (this could happen anyplace). Everyone in our group was around 30 years old & most of us have children. This is prob not the best place to take your kids, but I would actually consider it. All in all, we had a great time. If I was a person who didn't drink & didn't want to be around people who were drinking & have a good time, I would find someplace different. We plan to go back to NRO before the weather turns cold & will be going a few times a year from now on.

Its obvious these people leaving reviews don't pay attention or do any research before picking a campground. This is a college kid party campground, nothing more, nothing less. Its here for the loud people, the crazy people, the naked people. I have been going here since 2005 and it has been the same every year! In the Office at the top of the hill they even have a sign that says they DO NOT recommend family floating on the weekends! How Obvious do you need them to be?? For the person looking for a party, this is the only place to go. Great time every time.

Don't camp here! We stayed this last weekend and were not informed that we would be camping next to the show me pride of Missouri. My children were exposed to a bunch of guys kissing each other and doing nasty things right in front of us. They blocked the whole river and squirted us with water cannons.

Weekends here at NOT for families. We camped from Wednesday to Saturday. We were the only people onthe campgrounds until Friday. It was so crowded and packed with young college students. My children had to hear the "F" word being screamed all night long. Unless you like to party hard and scream a lot, this is not the place to go.

I have been to the Niangua River many times and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had. The campground was so full that people were camping in the roadway, our neighbors literally attacked us when we asked that they not relieve themselves on our tents, one of our campers was hit in the face and authorities would do nothing about it because they were out numbered! We even caught 2 people breaking into our car in the middle of the night. My suggestion is to stay at Riverfront campground, its a little better but still a huge party. If you are looking for a family experience the Niangua River is NOT a good place to go. It is a huge naked, weed smoking drunk party, NRO just makes it even more trailer park than necessary! SO NOT worth the money!!

Me and a group of friends of mine come here every year. This is not a family place its a place to get drunk on the water and have a goodtime.

Worst camping experience I've had in 30 years. The campground staff were polite and helpful but not enough to offset the downside. Extremely crowded. Stereos blasting until 4a.m. (camp policy states no loud anything after 11pm) Drunk and disorderly "campers" the entire 2 days we were there. Bathrooms/Showers filthy and then closed within hours of our arrival. The Niangua river looked like the L.A. freeway at rush hour. Crowded with drunken, half naked loudmouths. NOT a family venue! NOT for anyone who wants to enjoy the beautiful Missouri landscape! Weedy, rocky and dusty but at least there were clouds of insects to keep your mind off of it.
