Sullivan House, New Shoreham

I was just on Block Island for a weekend at a wedding at The Sullivan House. My husband and I, and some of my family, stayed at a rental house on the property - the Beach House or Harbor House, I don;t remember which. Anyway, we loved it. The location is amazing with ocean views all around - even the rental house was right on the water! It was clean and nice - perfect for our family to stay together and be near the wedding stuff. Aside from my own wedding, I was the best one I ever went to - the food was awesome, the staff was good to us (they were especially kind to my kids) and the The Sullivan House itself is gorgeous. My husband is an architect and was blown away by the building and its decor. One downside is that they don;t take very young children at The Sullivan House itself - so we couldn't stay for the Sunday night.

the staff of the sullivan house were snobby and rude, it was obvious that it was handed down to them on a silver spoon, the house was dirty, none of the doors shut including the bathroom, there were no blinds on the windows. it is clear that you pay a lot of money to stay in these houses and they put none of that money back in to the house, do not stay at the sullivan house there are many other options if you want to stay on block island

What a pleasure to stay at the Sullivan house. The staff made us feel totally at home. I fell in love all over again with my husband! We needed a getaway, to remember what it was like to be a couple, and something about this lovely inn did it. I would love for others to have as wonderful an experience as we did. I think all the rooms have a gorgeous view. It was like living in a bygone era. Block Island was so romantic.

The Sullivan House is not just the best place to stay on the island but is really one of the most beautiful places in the entire country. It is perfectly located, gorgeous houses, has a history, stunning grounds, views, etc., and wonderful service with a friendly, down-to-earth staff. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when visiting BI. It's the real deal.

My wife and I stayed at the Sullivan House two weeks ago on a midweek vacation. We both are so impressed with the overall service and location. First off the Sullivan House is a beautiful Inn and the location is amazing! The reason I am writing this review is beacuse we feel the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to attend to our needs. Marko, Steve and Cara were the main staff members we meet during our stay and we can't thank you enough! We entend writing to your employer directly as you guys are keepers!! Steve, thanks for the evening tea! It was great.

The Sullivan House is perfectly located but I have never received shoddier treatment in my life. No actual person ever appeared to greet us or check on us--we were greeted with a note, that's all. We never received any housekeeping services. Although the house and its views are indeed beautiful, the furnishings and linens are in bad shape, our room was dusty, and worst of all the house was overrun throughout our entire stay with workers preparing the place for a weekend wedding. After looking forward to some peace and quiet on Block Island, we instead had to put up with a fraternity party atmosphere (the workers were often hanging around inside the house, which is quite small--no escape from them) with swearing, spitting, loud and offensive rap music (they wouldn't turn it down when we asked), all day and even past 10 PM at night. We paid a great deal to stay here and we URGE you not to make the same mistake. The experience was horrible and although we called the management, nobody has even apologized to us. Stay away from this place!
