Very Relaxing and Boring!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/11
I have to say up front that the rooms were very clean and the staff very polite and helpful. The grounds were well kept and the area was very quiet. Now for the boring part. If you are older or just looking to kick back and do nothing then this is the place for you! If you have a pulse and are looking for something to do and a place to eat / hang out DO NOT stay here. No resturant, No lounge, No gym. For some that may not be a big deal, but i drove out every night to work out and eat. Not a big deal but something that you should conside rif you are staying in the area.

Sparkling clean, attractive, comfortable
By Linda C, 10/13/11
Wonderful lodge, on a hill, with a view of spacious green areas, community center, playground. The staff was friendly and caring. The room was large, quiet, pleasant, with full amenities. I have arthritis, and the bed & pillows were comfy. There's recycling and considerate water use options. Easy access (but not noisily close) to I95, the Groton market area, the sub base, dining, a salon (Wellness). Driving around Groton, there's a great deal of interest & beauty - the fort, library, views, architecture, the winding scenic road leading to the sub museum. Brought my laptop, and there's an Internet cable in the room. Day storage for the laptop hadn't been a common request, but they quickly found a way to meet the need with a locked area behind the desk and a standard valuables form. I'd be glad to come here again.

At the Navy Lodge Right now:)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/21/09
This is my 2nd stay at this particular navy lodge. The first time I was blown away, Full kitchenette complete with everything, coffee pot, toaster, microwave, fridge, stove top, dishes, pans etc etc.. bathroom was spacious everything was very clean.... beds were even comfy!!!! This time, Im not as thrilled. My TV keeps cutting in and out, there was gum embedded in the blanket, my bathroom wasnt as clean as I would of liked to see it, my room smelled like smoke, which was odd because this is a non smoking facility and I have been very itchy all day since I arrived 6 hrs ago... Im not a complainer either but I was more suprised today when I got to my room and noticed all of the stuff I just mentioned.. I was absolutely blown away the first time I was here. I will be here next weekend as well, so Ill give it the best 2 out of 3 visits before I decide to go somewhere else. If its back to good next weekend I will stay here but If I am as unhappy or actually I should say disappointed then I will look into other hotels... But definately try it out... Im not giving up on them yet....

very nice
By will, 3/21/08
i loved that the lodge was very very new and cleanly and offers a full kitchen with all the pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and silverware that you would need to make a nice meal. i enjoyed my stay and would stay here whenever i need a hotel in groton. the price is great $70 a night is a bargain, when thenavy lodge was full i stayed at the best western, the best western was not only $100 or more a night but it was old the rooms were smelly and old and had no kitchen.

Great place to stay
By MelissaA, 10/10/07
You cant beat this place! It was very clean, the rooms are large with a full kitchenette! Anything you could want. It was very convient traveling with a small child! The floors were clean. I was able to wash all her bottles, spoons, and bowls she used. There is a laundry facility in the vending area. The hotel brought me a highchair and bedrails at no charge. It is a great location, close to everything but sat quietly off the road. I would reccomend this hotel to everyone!

When in Groton, a Terrific place to come and relax
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/13/07
I am retired and I come to Groton to see old friends and see some of the Old sites. The Navy Lodge has been rebuilt, brand new facilty. The rooms are more spacious and has everything you need to stay for one night or a week. The staff is very helpful, and they make you feel welcomed. The Base is close to shop at the Commasary or at the exchange. You can swim at the Beach on the base or go to the Ocean or the Casinos that are very close. Mystic CT is only about 20 minutes away. If you enjoy shopping, there is a Mall and also lots of strip malls located close to the Lodge and also various Restuarants, form Italian to asian. A place called Russells Ribs right on the main road on Rt 12 is one of my favorites (all you can eat) My family really enjoyed our stay at the Navy Lodge and we will be staying there every time we are in Groton CT. Larry Upton and Family (Navy Retired).
