To comment on that negative feedback from Virginia. The owner was very upfront about not being outside and being noisy at nite. One of the reasons is its next to residential housing. And another is that he informed me he has had issues with guests getting rowdy and rude and very noisy. Since they management is semi-retired they open this hotel on a seasonal basis. So they don't live & die by the occupancy rate.
But as I wasn't there to gauge how loud you where being. I can only say that manager is probably less patient with noisy people. And yes if he didn't at least give you a warning then that's not cool. Sometimes people just rub each other the wrong way.
** Now My Review of this place....
It is a very clean & cozy motel. The furniture is a bit dated and room size was good. In the room I got a 27" TV with 70 basic cable channels. The room also had a small fridge, microwave & AM/FM clock radio. I got a queen bed which was nice but the headboard was a bit squeaky when you moved a lot. The management is a nice couple that's semi-retired and very easy to deal with. I enjoyed that they were upfront on the rules and what they service while you are staying there. But the best thing about this place its only $50 a night. And every other lodging place in that area is double that price. So stay there and have fun and take a walk along the river its nice view of Canada.
We have stayed at this motel several years, but will definately not go back. We had friends stop by to visit aproximately 9pm, we were on the porch talking and laughing, did not realize we were disturbing anyone. The caretaker came rushing up to us and began using foul language to our friends, told them to get out or he was calling the police. All he had to do was come over and tell us we were making to much noise and to quiet down. I was with a retired police officer and his wife, not like we were there to cause trouble. Very unprofessional behavior for someone that has to deal with the public. Don't worry about us coming back, or any of our friends, not a chance.
The place was clean and well-taken care of. The 2 beds had the most uncomfortable mattresses I have ever slept on. I had such a backache in the morning. We were charged $5 extra for using the pull-out sofa, something I've never heard of in all the years I've stayed in hotels (it was already in the room).
Middle age buildings but very clean and very comfortable. No unpleasant smells -- actually the linens smelled good. Surprisingly quiet, no traffic noise despite being just off a major highway. Service was attentive and very personable. We've paid significantly more for nowhere near as good. We will stay there again without hesitation.
it's family run and small so they were attentive to my needs. they have loaner hair dryers, irons, and you can get ice for free. the rooms are a bit outdated, but at least they are clean and BUG FREE which is a huge plus to me. their prices are great compared to the other local hotels. it's close to the airport, but not within walking distance to anything. you have to call a cab (which are so unreliable) or waste gas.
