They wont return my CAR KEYS since Aug 2011
By ,
Ok, made the reservations 3 months in advancefor the room that sleeps 6. That's six people. Was charged a "child fee" we did not take kids. Tracy said " oh the people who made the website messed it up, I will take the charge off".. RIGHT didnt. THEN when I called to double check the room number and she said it was the same AND since we were arriving late that she will leave the key on the bed and the door open. DIDNT we arrived at 11:05pm. Our room was locked??? We tried several times, then called her. Did she answer NO had to KEEP calling until she did, her response was "oh I had to switch you rooms . UMMM were you gonna tell us? NO just let us try to get into a room that had people in it!!! So needless to say the other 4 people had to leave because the room we did get was SO SMALL THEY WOULD NOT EVEN FIT ON THE FLOOR!. To top it all off I left my ONLY set of car keys there. We were in a rental car. A week later Tracy e-mailed my husband stating to call her to make arrangments to get the keys back. I have been calling ALL THE TIME since the end of AUG , she continues to make excuses. Her daughter has the car, she lost my address, she forgot. Now she is saying that "Tracy is in the lodge she will have her acll" gee sure sounds like Tracy when she answers the phone. But guess what SHE HAS NEVER CALLED ME BACK. SO I warn you, Aside form all this the room could have been cleaner. THe sink was not really very clean, the bedding smelled. This Tracy IS NOT VERY PROFESSTIONAL!!!

Great Family Reunion!
By ,
We had a family reunion at the Kelly House Lodge. We had 30 people it was a lot of fun. The weather was fantastic durn the day we sat out on the deck and relaxed it was awesome. We had the whole place to ourselves. The rooms were nice and clean very basic. There was no cable in the rooms upstairs but we were able to find some movies to watch. We weren't up there much. We had a great stay. We brought our own breakfast into the lounge. We went to Holdiay Valley that was 1 mile away and tried out the sky high adventure it was awesome. Overall great time. It was fun to all be in one building just like being at grandmas.

Great Staff, Great Stay
By ,
If you are looking for an enjoyable place to stay, I suggest the Kelly House Lodge. The staff is very accommodating and do their best to meet your needs. While it is no Ritz Carlton, it is quite comfortable. If you are looking for turned down sheets and mints on your pillow then Kelly House Lodge is not for you. I highly recommend the Kelly House Lodge to anyone visiting the Ellicottville, NY area. I give it 2 thumbs up

In response to your negative posting....You reserved online and I attempted to contact you several times regarding the problems in your reservation via email and the phone number that you had listed. You even stated that you had received the email and assumed that it was a confirmation.. I did everything I could to contact you and you never responded. As far as the "hair" on the floor and having to ask for a vacuum..not true. I have one staff besides myself and if there was a problem with the room, we both would have been more than happy to come and revacuum if asked, but we were not. You did NOT ask for a vacuum... I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay.

I have stayed at the Kelly House Lodge on many occasions and have always been pleased. The rooms are comfy, clean and the management is always helpful. We had a group stay there this past New Year's Eve - 2010. We had all of the rooms booked for our group but apparently there was one room that had been cancelled. We went out on New Year's Eve and remained out until after the celebration at midnight. Upon our return to the lodge, we arrived, talked for a short while and went to bed. No loud party and I might mention, most of use are well over 40 years old and professionals. Early in the morning we heard banging and jumping from a room above. Apparently a family arrived while we were out the previous night - small children who were running around, etc. We had no idea that anyone but our group was staying there. The family seemed to leave in a huff on New Year's morning and actually took pictures of our liquid refreshments that we had on the deck (to stay cold). He said something about an "open container law" - He may not know that this does not apply to private property. Having a drink on the deck of the lodge is certainly not a law-breaker. The weather was horrible - rain, rain and ice. I feel that this unhappy family left because of the weather and terrible skiing conditions, rather than because of our group! I must add also - we had no party at the lodge. We were all out in town. Also - breakfast would be served in many of the local restaurants just a few blocks away from the lodge. No need to wait until 10:00 AM at the lodge. On regular weekends, it is served much earlier. I would certainly recommend this location for a wonderful time in Ellicottville. Room rates are reasonable and location is convenient to stores and restaurants. We've already booked for future stays. .

Stay Away
By ,
Well, I should have known that this stay was going to turn out this way when I was driving 3 hours to the lodge from the airport with my family and I called the Lodge. I called to let them know we were going to be later than originally scheduled. She was on her way out the door without a thought to our arrival. It was New Year’s Eve after all and she had to “go downtown”. At the time I was thinking, what would have happened if I hadn’t called? I wish I had not because I would probably have been looking for a hotel rather than staying at the Lodge. She also manages to tell me that breakfast will not occur until 10 the next day rather than 8. It says on their site that they love kids but they evidently don’t know that they need to eat in the morning before 10. We’re getting unloaded and heading up to the room and notice that there are coolers and boxes of beer on the front porch. At this point, it’s after 9 and I have 2 small kids who need sleep. We get unloaded and head upstairs. It didn’t take long to figure out that a large group had taken over the Lodge for their own New Year’s Eve party. It was a planned event and the group had the run of the entire Lodge. I officially knew we were in for a long night when they left their empties all over the lounge after seeing their beer on the front deck so it would stay cold. We were right above the party all night. I have to believe that management knew exactly this when we reserved that room for our one night stay only 2 days earlier. It was not a safe environment for us so we obviously had to get out of there after our one night stay. I am attaching the pictures that I took the next day which show the evidence of the party along with their open container policy and city ordinance which was obviously ignored completely by the group and management. They knew when they accepted our one night reservation that all of this was happening. They knew we had kids. I think they even knew all of the people at the party because they were all socializing the next day at the Lodge. Amazingly, they also are trying to charge us additional fees for leaving the Lodge. We stayed one night and were willing to pay for that night and leave. Not only were they not concerned about the New Year’s Eve party and the obviously incorrect decision to include kids in it, they wanted to attack me for not understanding that it was New Year’s Eve. What Dad keeps his family there for another night? It was Saturday night the next night so we could have done the same thing all over again. The people seemed nice enough during the day but who knows who would show up the next night and how drunk they would get. It’s not unheard of for drunk people to head toward the wrong room at the end of the night. This whole report doesn’t happen if they do not try to charge us for additional nights. We’re leaving and they send us off by criticizing me for not being with it for New Year’s Eve and being unwilling to stay another night after getting no sleep. They couldn’t just take one night’s worth of a rate and be done with it? The property is for sale. I don’t think the owner cares one way or the other. She wants the cash and will do what it takes to keep it up to requiring that a family stay at the lodge with small kids during a party weekend. Nice. I would avoid this place because whatever positive reputation this place has is being used up by the current management and the owner while she tries to sell. It’s too bad that Ellicotville which is a small town has a place like this creating negativity around the city. Hopefully, they are out of the business soon and the city can avoid future problems.

We will not be back.
By ,
There is definitely a niche for The Kelly House Lodge in Ellicottville, but we (a couple in our early 60's) were not a good fit. The rooms are very basic, and geared for families with kids since they have both double and bunk beds in them. Midweek rates are inexpensive. We encountered some problems. We booked last minute and were not told until we got there that we would have to change rooms after the first night. Our first room had no TV and we had to ask for towels which were forgotten. An obnoxious family with screaming, whining kids kept us awake the first night. The second room had cable TV, but a toilet somewhere upstairs ran every 17 seconds and kept us from getting a good night's sleep. The walls are very thin! The place is for sale and the young woman running the place when we were there was not particularly helpful when we asked questions about restaurant recommendations or skiing hours. She seemed to be just going through the motions and doing the minimum. The last time we stayed there (several years ago) midweek, a basic breakfast was provided, and because not many rooms were occupied, it was quiet and met our requirements. This place is probably still OK for groups and families. Individuals and couples take their chances if they are looking for just a place to sleep after a day of skiing.
