Myself and 2 kids camped here. We found the staff pleasent and very mindful of the kids while they were in the arcade. Free showers are always great and the restrooms always smelled of cleaning products so you knew it was clean. Great family place to be!!
I have been camping here for 3 years now. I have a 12 year old autistic child that has come out of his shell while staying here. The bunnies for petting, the arcade room for socializing, and the pool are amazing. But the best is the Saturday night karaoke which my son will actually sing at and feel like its family. They have a pleasant atmosphere that makes all feel at home. Would recommend to all especially children with disabilities they do not discriminate!!
enjoyed our weekend at Hillcrest- they had a mini carnival for the children lots of games, a wonderful clown that entertained the children with small prizes and face paintings! The dunking machine was a big hit.
I would definately return to the campground.
I really like this campground. I was here for memorial day weekend with a 10 year old. There were hay rides, fireworks and dancing in the evening on Saturday. Kareoke on Sunday night with kid friendly songs in the beginning of the evening then more oldies and other adult favorites after 10pm. Rabbits for the kids to hold with an adult present. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The store had anything we forgot to bring and there is plenty of places to eat nearby if I didn't feel like cooking. The bathrooms we used were clean, the showers were hot and free. I will definately come back again.
My family decided we would go camping and enjoy the beautiful outdoors for the weekend. Since this would be our first camping experience we wanted a real "family" atmosphere and from the web site Hillcrest has it really sounded lovely. The pool was covered with all sorts of lovely things that you would expect in a campground just not in the pool! It took my children& I about an hour to clean it enough to were the would be able to swim without getting anything in their hair.I should mention that the pool is across from the main office and the owners just sat there and watched. The site included mini golf as one of it's attractions so we wanted to check it out. Well my child went to walk up on the very old course and fell through the foundation. She was not hurt but needless to say that we did not play. They had a talent show and I guess the people who run the talent show really just wanted a reason to drink as well as sing loudly about getting naked ect... Then as they drank THEY DECIDED TO LIGHT OFF FIREWORKS!!! WOW!FUN! As my children and&I were nervously watching them blow fireworks off into what they hoped would be the sky one of the expolsives shot off very closesly to cars and tents that were about 25 feet from were they had there display of fireworks. Now I ask anyone out there does this sound like a "Family"campsite?
I should also mention that if you have a 14 year female child as I do please do not let her walk around without you beside her as many males feel the need to stop, stare and turn their heads because she is in a bathing suit.
NEVER VISIT THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!
My husband & I had been camping at this site for a number of years under the prior ownership (Bruce & Pat)& LOVED it! It was so well-kept. We recommended it to many friends & acquaintances over the years. Now, under the new ownership, it is nothing more than a DUMP. The drinking & bathing water is quite literally brown & smelly & the park has become horribly rundown. We did not stay there last year for our annual outing as we were informed it was under the same "new" management. Avoid this place like the PLAGUE!
This campground should not be in operation. The camping spots are grass and mud. The electric is suppose to be 30 amps but I had to hook into 2 sites in order to run my camper and it is 30 amps. the electric kept going up and down with one site plugged in. The have the nerve to charge 33 dollars for one of these mud sites, plus pay showers in a bathroom that should be condemed. There is no way to describe this place other than it is a dump. I would not stay here if they paid me.
We picked ships inn after staying at the kentville hotel. The room at kentville was small and appeared a little
dingy. We went to ships inn to view their rooms and my husband and I were like ahhhh, YES ...
