Sea Vista Motel, Topsail Beach

We just stayed a week at Sea Vista, our fifth or six stay on the island. Great island and we love to return each year. However we will never and I mean never return to Sea Vista. We knew what to expect of an older motel, however we expect good customer service and this was our worst experience. Our room service consisted of dropping off towels and picking up dirty ones and trash. On our first evening we used the pop machines and only the left one for water bottles worked. The right one with the coke did not accept dollar bills and after getting quarters from my room I returned to the vending machine to find out that it took my quarters. So I mentioned to my wife I would report it the next day at the office so it could be fixed. Well I did and the office girl that helped me was pleasant and apologized for the inconvenience. She called Bill and told me he was on duty that morning and would know if it had been fixed. He entered the office with a chip on his shoulder because the first thing he said was it was not his problem and when I answered if this was part of his property and service to customers. He asked me if I understood English. I repeated my question “if the pop machines were part of the service” On his turn he asked if I understood English again. I told him this would be the last time I would stay here. He answered he would like to throw me out of my room. I left and wend back to my room. Poor customer service will cause us to find other accommodations and never return to Sea Vista. I agree with the other reviews Bill lacks personal and customer service skills Adios Bill,

One of the information sheets you are given at check-in is that extra towels and supplies are available at the office. When my wife went to the office on Friday to ask for three (3) washcloths, (Bill) the attendant at the desk stated to her that the staff had serviced the room and did not want to give her any. After asking a total of four repeated requests, he rudely and relucktantly provided the washcloths. Poor customer service will cause us to find other accomodations. I assured (Bill) the same attendant this morning at check-out that the extra washcloths (k-mart economy model) were left in the room and we did not try to steal them. So long Bill

Pretty nice place. No problem parking boat in parking lot. Wireless internet seemed a little weak but had no problem getting email and fishing reports. It would be nice if they had a place to clean fish as I saw a lot of trucks in the parking lots with fishing racks on their trucks so I know a lot of people were there to fish in the November time frame. All in all, a good stay.

When I called to make the reservations, I asked it it would be alright to bring my small boat. The lady that I spoke with assured me that it would be fine. Plenty of parking. When I arrived the lady (not the same person is spoke with) working the desk came flying out of the office and told me that I could not park the boat in their parking lot. In my defense, I had been fishing since about 8 am and had been up since 4 am – so I was not very nice. I explained that when I made the reservations I asked and was told I could bring the boat as well as I was told “Plenty of parking”. She then backed down. Now for the wireless internet that is advertise on the web site. That is a joke if I ever saw one. The band with is so small that I could only get 1 bar on my iPad occasionally. Not really great for those of us that must keep up with email and other on-line applications. On to the room. I’ve been coming to Topsail for 20 years now and have stayed at the SeaVista many times in the past. I do know that they have recently changed ownership. Do not ever take the last room they have available. Had to lean hard on the door to get it to open. The tile floors were gritty. The tables looked like they had not been dusted in a month or more. Just not the great experience I had hoped for.

Our initial contact was good, but we tried to change rooms styles, the man was very rude. Then when I decided to cancel over a week later (six weeks before our arrival date) he was even ruder. Bill needs a lesson on customer service.

My wife and I have been to Topsail many times, but this was our first time at Sea Vista. We were there mid-May just before rates changed, and we practically had the beach to ourselves.......just wonderful. If you're looking for the Ritz, you won't find that anywhere at Topsail, but if you want great value, a clean room, and friendly staff, this is your place. At high tide, your deck is 25 yards from the waterline, and sleeping at night to the sound of the waves crashing right there is super! Great beach for walking at low tide and a great place to collect shells.

My parents and I wanted to stop at a beach on our way home from Wilson, NC. We had planned on just staying a couple of nights at a little mom and pop motel before heading home to Indiana. We were hesitant about the Sea Vista Motel after reading some of the reviews, but thought we might make it work for just two nights. What can I say......we fell in love with this place. The owner was such a nice lady, very down to earth. The rooms were simple but very clean. The housekeepers were very nice and went out of their way to accomodate us. We ended up staying a full week. When we asked if we could stay longer, management told us we could, but we would have to switch rooms. We were moved from the 2nd floor down to the first floor. The housekeepers had our new room cleaned and ready to move in right away. The beach was very clean, and the view of the ocean was beautiful. I will always treasure the memories of walking this beach with my mom and dad. Hope to come back with them again real soon.

My wife had an unexplained experience with your motel manager. First, we attempted to make reservations over a week in advance for you motel. We were told that reservations were not necessary and to “come on down”. We were told that on at Tuesday, the day of our arrival, that there were plenty of rooms available. We chose your motel because of the pet policy and we have always enjoyed Topsail Island. We contacted the motel the day of our arrival and were assured that there were rooms available and to “come on down” once again. We called a third time at the time of our departure and two hour drive, with our pet in hand. Upon arrival we were told that there were no rooms available, although there were only 7 cars in the parking lot. We were extremely disappointed. We then embarked on a search for a place to stay that would allow our pet. This is not easy to do on an island that only had a few options. I have concluded after researching on a different web site other than the Sea Vista site. I have come across several disgruntled patrons due to the actions of the front desk manager.

we are goin next friday and coming back tuesday and thanks to the writings were goin to stay there i cant wait no longer

We spent a long weekend here in October. The staff couldn't have been nicer. We were a little nervous because of some of the reviews about the staff but they must have made some changes because everyone was very polite and helpful. The room was clean and roomy but a normal beach motel. It's not the Ritz but that's not what we're looking for at Topsail. Will definitely stay there again.
